OMG get well informed before you post next time. Nvidias have horrible DX9 performance. Doom 3 is more of a direct x8 game than dx9 game. Aquamark3 is 70% direct x 8.0 shader code vs 30%dx9. John Carmack already admitted that Nvidia FX cards run Doom3 slower in full precision mode.

FX cards will run doom3 fine but with lower graphic quality and lower precision.

HL2 and Tomb raider have more dx9 code in them. Just like 3dmark03 mothernature test. All nivida cards run dx9 at almost half ATI speed. The only way to get the speed back up is by reducing video quality. This is what Nvidia has chosen to do. Each new driver reduces image quality in order to get more speed.

Don't listen to Toms drivel about:

"Taking sides at this point wouldn't be a wise decision, though, as one could easily become a marionette for either of the two sides, used to defend its own view of the situation. Sadly, this is exactly what we see happening at the moment. Many publications are receiving "inside information" from one of the two sides and then publishing it as their own scoop"

Its not hard to take sides at this point. Nvidia have been scumbags in false advertising its FX line as viable Dx9 class hardware. ATI has not. I don't care who has been leaking the Nvidia information about Nvidia cheating. Its all been proven to be true.

Nvidia made their bed with the lies now they must sleep in it.

Stay away from the FX line its smoke n mirrors.

Well, the FX line is ok for directx 8.0 games. But you can play all those games with a GF4 which are much cheaper.

If you are looking to buy a video card now, I would think you would want it to play the upcomming hordes of dx9 games well. The only player in town is ATI, the FX cards are just a rip off. Now maybe Nvidia will have a real dx9 card next time around. Till then go with ATI for the most dx9 fps/dollar.
