Yeah you read it right!!!
All you Nvidia fans (and I am one) may be siked and laughing at 3dfx but I do not think this is good! Who's left? ATI and uh maybe Matrox and Kyro and ??? Well ATI is the only real competition for the PC. Nvidia is after the laptop and I'm sure won't let Matrox just steal back the workstation that easily.
So where is the competition? Where are our prices going to go? Will nvidia keep up the pace? ATI probally won't have a new card 'til next fall. 3dfx was to have a good competitor this spring and unlease the Mosaic next fall (ref. article <A HREF="http://www.penstarsys.com/editor/Today/nvidia/nvda2/index.html" target="_new">http://www.penstarsys.com/editor/Today/nvidia/nvda2/index.html</A>. Will Nvidia capitalize and crush the copetition with this technology? Or will it be lost? (I wish ATI, Matrox or someone else bought them, hell even Intel or AMD)
We need competition to drive technology and price. Market alone and the little bit of comp from ATI is not to suffice.
