Anyone know anything about this card? I can't seem to find anything about it by that name. Search results keep coming up with the gt 745m at 1GB but nothing about the gtx 745 4GB.

Should I buy an Asus computer with this gpu or another Asus PC with a GTX 750 2GB? Both cost the same amount.

Its a low end Maxwell (GM107) with a slower clock speed and slower memory than a GTX 750 to fit the TDP/heat envelope for the Alienware X51. Its probably between a GTX 650 and GTX 650 Ti in performance if it were standing alone in a regular PC (about like an HD 7770/R7 250X).

I have this card in my Dell XPS 8700. Along with an ASUS monitor that has an optional volume out, it high jacked my onboard sound and the only thing Dell could do for me was send a sound card to me. Last week, my GTX 745 failed (series of 3, 6 beeps coming from system)...Dell replaced the GTX 745 for free.

Those two things said, the card has performed very well in gaming. I am nowhere near the serious gamer I was before I had kids but it played modern games, like ALIEN Isolation, at highest settings perfectly.

Is that pc good? I was going to possibly buy it so play games like dayz and h1z1 if possible

First off, I don't know what someone said, but that's hardly proper discourse.

Second, I won't say anything to you personally, but I will tell the truth about this video card.

IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP. I have a hd4850 that I gave to my *mother* that gives this piece of crap a run for its money. Hell, I bought that card 7, that's SEVEN, years ago...

Let's do a simple comparison:
Nvidia 745, 384 cores @ 1033 MHz, with a memory bandwidth BELOW 30GB/sec... wow, just wow that's pathetic.
Nvidia 750 Ti (sold ~$125), 640 cores @ 1020 +boost, memory bandwidth of 86.4 GB/sec.

I'm not even going to compare it to a bigboy card like a 970 with over 4x the cores and 8x the memory bandwidth because this piece of crap doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.

So, why the rant? I'll tell you why... this card is sold with 4GB of memory. Yeah, 4GB, you know you need that much memory so you can run 4xSSAA on your 2560x1440 monitor. Of course you can go take a leak while the 745 renders a single frame...

Why it makes me mad is that it tricks nice people, some of them in this thread, into buying an severely underpowered GPU cause they see that 4GB. An amount of memory that can only be for marketing and fooling the ignorant, cause it AINT BEING USED BY THE CARD.

Why is it only OEM? because its sold to the types of people who buy names like Dell, HP and Alien-crap-ware computers and think they got a Ferrari when they actually got a Civic with a enormous muffler.

*** I apologize if anyone takes this as unduly harsh. But this is a tech website... you need someone's help, and people provide it freely. But, those of us with knowledge are not going to watch misinformation spread. My comments are directed at the 745 and what I see as a marketing attempt to fool the uninformed.

Thanks for the info!

I came here looking for answers, I bought the Dell for casual games and to grow into a better, I find it now lagging in Games like ARK & Warmachine, some game are very pretty & function great. But the newer games are killing it! Looks like I fell for the scam 🙁

Any advice on what to replace it with? Thanks

I'm not a computer guru and was definitely conned by the 4GB graphics card when I purchased the Dell XPS 8700 desktop last Christmas for my husband. A tech who came to work on my Dell laptop (we're clearly not doing so well with Dell these days) took a quick look at it, and said it wasn't a very good card. The screen freezes in mid-flight or he gets the Blue Screen of Death when he runs Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I was hoping he'd finally be able to crank the graphics up on the program with the new computer, but this seems to run worse than his old computer 7 years ago. Does anyone know what type of card I should upgrade to get the best performance (under $200) on this computer? Known specs are below (The PSU is factory, but I'm not sure how many watts it can handle).
XPS 8700
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 4GB DDR3
4th Generation Intel Core i7-4790 processor (8M Cache, up to 4.0 GHz)
16GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz (4GBx4)
1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
Thank you.

Nvidia GTX 750 TI probably best card under 200 bucks or another option would be a Nvidia GTX 960 but goes for alittle more but both solid cards for the price

Looks like 4GB is OEM , Just saw one in a Dell XPS 8900 tower i7 6400k tower @ costco

Just bought the Dell XPS 8900 with the i7 6700 and the gtx 745 4gb... and all you guys are saying that it's terrible, but will I be able to play games such as Planetside 2 on it? Saw some videos on how it can run BF4 and GTA5 with decent fps

Planetside 2 should be fine depending on your expectations regarding settings and performance. I sometimes play that on a GT 730 (GDDR5) and Haswell i5 in a SFF Dell and it runs decently at low settings (>30 fps, no hitching), even in large fights.

hey man i own one and i can gte u the specs they have them on nvidias site nvidia.com
email if u need at wilde_tyson@hotmail,ca

I wouldnt count on this card being able to run newer games. The i7 will do most of the legwork but I put a used 660 in my 8900 and saw a massive fps boost in most of the games I play (FO4, Siege, Arma 3 etc)

I have this card, it got 1gb of dedicated video ram, it can run most of the games well, I ran Tom Clancy's Rainbow: Seige and it did pretty well.

You can search on google "can you run it?" and you can see a website where you can see if you pc can run any game.

I just got an HP Envy 750-171 with his very card in it... a week later I am looking to replace it. I would very much appreciate suggestions to what to replace it with. I prefer Nvidia and am a returning computer gamer.
