ATi's are massively over priced

Can you say.. "nVidiot?" ?

ATi's are even gonna get sliced in price, $479 for teh 1900XT.. not too shabby imo..

not to mention, people are already claiming the 7900 is only gonna be 8%-10% faster than a 7800 GTX 512. Which actually places it in pace with a 1900XT, but for a lil extra $$.

really ..and what makes X1900 better than 7800GTX ...from what I saw it"s only 10-15 % faster and better ...that's because of the weird ATI's strategy of keeping the piplines and increasing shader units ...which isn"t that effective ..especially that current games don"t use shaders that much ...this huge amount of shaders is just for 3DMark06 no more , not for actual gaming ..

:?: :?: :!: :!: :!: :?: :?:

Dude, remember the 7900GTX 512MB cards??? A good price to get one was considered $750 with many nVidiots paying over $900
Paper launch to the point that ATI released the X1800's for $499 to $549 and had them in stock before they had the 7900GTX's in quantities, and still they are sparse and EXPENSIVE!
I got a HiS X1800XT 512MB first of December for $549 at NewEgg...
The 7900GTX 512 was not available at NewEgg at that time, and only a few other online dealers listed it, but it was a backorder item and all prices were over $750
It wasn't until Jan they started to show up in small quantities.

That goes to show you what nVidia is made of and what a raping to the market they would do if they could accomplish more than brainwash the nVidiots into believeing their factory overclocked card virtually to the breaking point and actually had the best card on the market, imagine what they would pay then!

BTW, what about the nVidia marketing claims about the 7900 being the graphic messiah and destroying ATI once and for all?
Turns out looks like the 7900 just might come close to the performance of a X1900XT in some areas... maybe...
How long before it is available after the paper March launch? It is March now, isn't it? 😛
The X1900's are widely available and are performing excellent and at reasonable prices and with more video features... Hmmm

yah but when do u need that much video RAM?

in th emid ranged vid cards Nvidia is cheaper
Both ATI and NVidia have the best cards in various price categories. You can not pick either and get the best card in every price range. What are you basing these comments on? My guess is you base this on the 7800GT alone.

Under $300, the 7800GT is the best card. But Is this ATI card massivly overpriced? What doesn NV have to offer for under $200 that can match a $160-$175 X850XT?

Edit:
From what I see, based on USA pricing anyway,

ATI owns the $500 and up range withthe X1900XT.
The best $400 card is not a 7800GTX 256MB, but the X1800XT's that are now found for less money even.
NV Owns the sub $300 range with the 7800GT
Below $200, It's back to ATI with the X850XT taking over where the 6800GS stood recently.
For $100, the 128MB X800's are better than a 6600GT and a little cheaper...another ATI victory.

Hard for me to understand comments like ATI is over priced and NV owns the midrange.

Sorry maybe I am being a lame ass, but I can't see preorders for 7900 cards anywhere even on dabs as stated. Not that I am going to be upgrading any time soon as I just got a 7800gs & I don't have the money anyway. Would have to get a whole new computer, but it would be nice to see pictures of these finialised cards with the specs.

The only "person" that has claimed this is Fuad (from theINQ). He states that such information was confirmed to him by "board partners" of nVidia, but who can be sure that the partners he chose to ask, or the ones that came forward, weren't trying to come out with some kind of vandetta against nVidia?

I have chatted with a reporter at theINQ recently (a friend) and have found out some very disturbing things. At first, I had prominently believed that Fuad got his "so called reliable sources" from mere forums and boards around the community (particularly B3D), which occasionally he does. But it seems that for other articles, his sources tend to be smaller partering companies that were some point screwed over, and are making claims out of spite and vengence. Maybe that explains why many of his articles are negative and condescending towards the subject he's writing about. (nVidia and ATI)

Anywho, just don't trust Fuad or theINQ. Period. (There's a reason why they have a bad reputation)

Paul I completely agree with your statements.

Pengwin, think before you make remarks like that. When you look at the whole picture- all of the different cards, all the online retailers, and price fluctuations- you can only conclude that nVidia and ATi have never been so even. For high-end cards it's a toss-up- there's no winner. I've been following the graphics card scene since the days of the Ti4200. A lot of the guys on the forum have been following it a hell of a lot longer than I have. Time always proves the fanboys wrong.

For cards $200 and lower, I would err to say that ATi has the upper hand. ATi's cards in that range are certainly not "massively overpriced," especially an X850XT for $160. Do the math.

haha, honestly, no one really knows what this card is gonna be for sure. I don't know why peeps can't just settle down and wait for the damn thing to appear. Why post this nonsense up, when you could actually USE the badass vid cards you own, and stop trying to defend them. They'll all be obsolete in a year anyways.

TheINQ is worthless.

I forget where, so don't brutalize me, but i heard that there will be a dual-core 7900...whoa.

<3

P.S. lolz if i heard that from theINQ

"really ..and what makes X1900 better than 7800GTX ...from what I saw it"s only 10-15 % faster and better"

Are you referring to the GTX or GTX512?

The 1900XT at $500 is faster than the latter, which is at a $750 price point...and by far greater than 10-15%.... 🙂

not looking good....

you cant test the best card on a middle of the range system to see its full potential.

ATI cuts graphics chip prices

Nvidian launch pushes X1900XTX to $499

By Fuad Abazovic: Monday 06 March 2006, 11:22

THIS THURSDAY graphics chip firm Nvidia will reveal two new chip families, the GeForce 7900 GTX and 7900 GT, along with the GeForce 7600 GT and GS.
The move already has rival ATI chopping its prices. Now the R520-based X1800 XT 256B costs just $299 for OEM cards and $329 for the boxed version. This is a lot of graphic card for the money. It has a full sixteen pipelines and will definitely give Nvidia's new offering a run for its money. ATI is positioning this card against the upcoming Geforce 7900 GT, which will roughly cost the same.
ATI is dropping some other prices too. A retail X1900 XTX will cost around $549 but companies such as Newegg will sell OEM bulk cards for $499. You can buy one here. ATI already sliced a hundred dollars off the XTX price.
Maybe Nvidia has horses for the race after all. We will find out by the end of the week. µ

LET THE WAR BEGIN

Ahhh, tomorrow is the day. 7900's yay.

I've been a nVidia fan my whole pc gaming life (except for a 3Dfx Voodo3), from the days of the Riva... (Its lying here on my desk actually in pieces 😀 ). To my days with my 6800gt.

But I still dont understand the ignorance of all these nVidia fanboys and fanboys in general. Theres a reason why companies are rivals with eachother, and that is not because one of them is a clear superior to the other. If ATI pulls through the 7900 release the victor with its X1900XT I think im going to have to splurge and buy one of those beasts. I trust and have gotten attached to nvidia but I'm more attached to researching and buying the better and cheaper product.

I dont intend to turn this into a fanboy argument either, even though it already has a bit.

And can we try to cut the judgments of a video card that's not even out yet. All this INQ junk is making me kind of sick. They may have some truth but who's to say what's true or not. I'm just waiting to look at some THG benches of the new series. And I think that is some good advice.

Sweet dude. I hope they perform about equally with ATI, so they go into a price war. Hopefully the benchmarks will be so close that it'll be hard to crown a performance king, which will spur both companies to work even harder on their next series of cards.
By the way, I admire your open minded attitude towards the rivalries. I'm glad not everyone's a fanboy out there.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but will these cards be available to purchase tomorrow or do they just start getting distributed?

Hard to know, but my guess is they will start to appear tomorrow. I have not seen anyone claiming to have bought one already like other recent releases. But word is that Monarch computers had them on their site already as well as some European sites.
