Maybe it´s not scoring higher, but ATI X1900XTX is old crap... My two 7800GTs takes two x1900xtx in most cases.

sorry dont buy it... 2 7800gt's are not as powerful as 1 7800gtx 512 let alone a x1900xtx... only thing you win is old opengl games

3dmark05 and 06 or whateva you use is just a tool its not real world gaming those are 2 different thing... so please give that crap to someone who is a 3dmark05-06 buff... show me real world benches tha support your theory.

Why bring out a card when you cant get it anyware and when they finaly ship them in there is a new faster card just coming out within weeks. what would you do if you just ordered a 512 gtx then you hear this. The technolagy cant change on these cards overnight Nvidia and ATI are taking the piss they are not takin steps the are takin inches. Both ATI and Nvidia probably have cards that are X2 better in every way that we are seeing now but they wont bring them out they will only make slight improvments to cover them selfs so thy stay ahead incase the technolagy does slow down. Im sorry prozac26 but you see were am coming from not 1 of the companes are wanting to take a big step from each other and they should because they can. :evil: :twisted: :evil: :twisted:

stop whining dude, you could bet the GTX 512 here in the uk a couple of days after it came out from www.scan.co.uk and just for the record i bought a 7800 256 version than a day later the 512 version came out. i was pissed but this is life there not gonna slow down cause a kid complained heck if we didnt waste so many resources on helping third world countries that only want to bomb us then we would be much father ahead technology wise, then again if it wasnt for the dark ages where people where burned at the stakes, we could be a hundred years ahead of where we are now.
 
when the 7800gtx's hit 399 Ill be the first one to get one b4 there gone (to replace a 6600gt in the kids comp)

If the 7900 GTs are starting at $299 wouldn't that be a way better deal than a 7800 GTX @ 399?

Both are 24 pipes, heck the core of the 7900 GT is supposed to be 450 Mhz which is even higher than a stock 7800 GTX.

Or do you mean a 7800 GTX 512? But then you could just overclock the 7900 GT, I bet it has more overhead than the 7800 GTX 512 would...

Hopefully by then there'll be an X1900 XL to compete with the cheaper 7900s.

Something to think about anyway.

Just wondering, any estimates on how much the price of the 7800 GT will drop once the 7900 comes out? if the price drops enough, I'm thinking of getting a couple and doing SLI. Or should I just throw all my money into one high end gfx card? Not rich enough to spend more than 400 or 450 on gfx.
 
SWEET! A Defender 90, now that's a true Off-roader.

Still my favourite of all, and still expensive as heck this side of the world (saw one for $50K+ w/ 60,000KM last summer).

I have no idea what this thread has devolved to (been on vacation/skiing) so I will ignore the 'graphics' talk. :tongue:

All I want for X-mas is for Ford to allow LandRover to make a new Defender 90 (No Freelander!). 8)
 
"in the u.k you can get a X1900......." thats now you can get one. I still remember a year ago when ATI told the world about their Crossfire cards on paper and it wasnt really available till late 2005!!!!!!
Its the same with Nvidia and ATI, they try to out do each other and paper releases happen just so they can "keep face". At least technically, one is ahead of the other. Just like prozac26 said, no one is forcing you to buy the 7900 series and I doubt that you will so whats with all the noise?

And with you running a 23 square sporting estate, go fishing everyday for work and driving a Rover.........oh yeah! I can see that your job has a lot to do with technology stuff.

I think the main thing is try not to get caught up with the technology stuff, its never ending and it turns PC users into PC hardware users where all they see are the benchmark scores.

I could buy a 7800GTX or a 7900GTX when its out. Hell, I got friends working next door in Gigabyte, Leadtek, MSI, ASUS..........I can get them before it comes onto the market (Engineering samples and let me tell you, the samples THG and other sites get, they are actually Engineering Samples Version 5 and above. A lot of the earlier ones are just bugs bugs bugs). Its just some of the advantages of living in Taiwan and working next to these factories. But I wonder how would a game be different to me if I was playing it at 70 odd frames and 140 frames. I am pretty sure they'll both be smoth as........and I am pretty sure normal PC usage will not make a difference at all. But then again, people use their PCs differently and judging from my friend's work places, it aint slowing down either. They are shipping out tons of hardware everyday and I mean enthusiast grade hardware. Not just some cheap/ value stuff and I wonder, what the hell are people doing out there that requires them to upgrade whenever a new flagship hardware is released??

I guess these companies knows the weaknesses of our human minds + advertising.......we're just sitting ducks
 
In the UK the price for a GTX 512 is over £550 so i dread to see the prices fo the 7900 prob £800 lol, thats if we ever see any of them. It is only now we are starting to see the 7800gtx 512. Also i would like to note that in the u.k you can get a X1900 for approx £350.

So why Nvidia are you taking the piss out of us? first you show us the 7800 512 months ago now when we can get a hold of 1 you tell us that there is a now and faster 1 coming out very soon!!!!!!!! :cry: :evil: :cry: :twisted:

i cant find the "old" 7800 512 gtx anywhere (its already been phased out) so i guess i'll wait for the 7900's. if anybody knows how the 7900 compares to a 7800 gtx 512 lemme know!

Ok now bare with me here.. We've all seen Hardware Advances In Technology! Like Pixel Shader 3.0 & HDR. ok! they're all good, but as for NEW! technology like we've seen from the 9800 to the X800? I don't think so, all of these steps are just publicity!!.

The only thing they are is FASTER, STRONGER CARDS, but as in REAL new tech, they're still the same POS with higher clock speeds. I Don't know if some understand, and others just say, screw it, I got the cash. It's up to you. I upgraded from my X800PRO AGP to the 7800gt PCI-E, yeah I saw some improvement in both speed and tech. but to go to the 7900? I'd say It would be like changing from a Radeon 9550 to a 9600.
