Ask again in 6 months to a year when all the AiB partner cards have been released.

D:

Were the differences between all the partner cards significant in the past?

1. they can be.
2. they're not out yet.

No, but I mean in the past. Like, the 980ti and co.

Mr Bocephus

I got an email fron nvidia lastnight about the release time. This morning I hit refresh and ordered my 1080 founders edition. Straight from nvidia site.

one thing i did notice is that the ASUS strix card for $620 is actually reference clocks. there is an oc version with the higher clocks that is gonna run a bit more at $640 for 1759 base clock and 1898/1936 boost clocks.

bit different this time as usually strix cards are already overclocked.

still pouring over pages looking for specs and stats for each card. i wish i could format more as it's gonna be odd getting the specs to look decent with minimal formatting options. might just do some basic info and make a google doc spreadsheet with a ton more info and post a link to it.

Maybe that's the whole idea of the founder's edition. Rather than aftermarket vendors releasing same-price or more expensive than reference cards with higher clock rates, instead they'll release stock clock rates but for a cheaper price?

Then again the OC edition has quite higher clocks and is cheaper, so I guess that can't be right.

Titan x is faster than the 980 ti.

It gets beat in price/performance by a big margin. I know it's like 1% better, which is negligible.

Eh, not really. VRAM is mostly managed by the graphic driver. They aren't going to make a game that won't run on 95% of people's machines.

They have and they will continue.

People just need to lower textures and or reduce other settings

It is very good looking. I want one. Incredible looking design.

I think it's going to be out-pricing itself in the UK though. I am not gonna pay £600 for one while the US pays $600. It's not the fact that it doesn't seem fair. It's the price/performance. My 980 cost £400, so for 50% more cost the 1080 is average about 50% more performance. I don't need it yet.

Even if the Asus 1080 came down to about £500, I doubt I would need it yet. I think the only reason for moving to a 1080 for me is either to move to 1440p gaming. Or for the extra VRAM.

I am excited for folks who the upgrade it totally worth it, though. It's mega-congratulations for them.

To me its a bit too flashy, tbh. I prefer a simpler design, like the EVGA 1080, even though I am a bit of an Asus fanboy.

As for the price... well, it has always been like that for Europe. I will upgrade to a custom 1080 as soon as some serious PCB's with more power and more overclocking headroom come out but I am upgrading an ancient hd5870, not a fairly new 980.
