The EVGA 1080 was overhauled and is more flashy IMO.

Not the LED's though. Either way, it's personal preference. I'll stick a water block on it anyway so I'm just waiting on whichever performs better.

the strix was not always the fastest but was always one of the coolest and quietest oc'ed cards out there without the top end price. it has won my heart over time for this reason.

the evga cards so far have the most power available for what i have seen. they have 2 x 8 pin connectors to ensure there is no lacking of power. wondering how high the ftw and classified cards will be clocked. evga still not released that info yet. the zotac amp editions also use 2 x 8 pins for power.

Hmm... GP102 running on lower clock speeds? If so, I do hope nVidia will give some more info about the Ti soon. Or for AMD to be really aggressive with Vega so that nVidia has to push the Ti out sooner ^^

Time to kick some sense to a lot of you fellas:

That RTG/AMD "split" article from HardOCP is just saltyness from not being invited to the events for being biased (blatantly IIRC). That is still under "rumor" tag and HUGE amounts of salt. On the other hand, it was discussed a lot when it happened here in the forums as well.

Don't mind it so much, because if RTG where to leave AMD and get in bed with Intel, you all know how Intel rolls. They would effectively kill nVidia in the short term. At best, they will go back to being ATI and with less than 1/5th of their original capital. That would just break whatever is left of that separation unless someone buys it.

So, in short, that article smells like clickbait and saltyness.

Cheers!

You read my mind hahaha

@tehpenguin

It is not strange for the bigger chip to be clock a bit lower than the smaller chip. I think that's has been the case with nvidia gpu since long ago. Plus the image could be photoshop in the first place to create buzz. Probably one way of Zotac to indirectly promoting their Firestorm utility. Imagine people say that there is leak for 1080Ti. Then people will want to see some prove then they give the picture of firestorm funning 1080ti. Indirectly people will know Firestorm is zotac Ocing tool.

@Yuka

The story on [H] about RTG is surprising. For once i thought i was reading Charlie D article lol. But things are not going too well between [H] and AMD right now. and funny thing is [H] has been invited into many AMD event in the past. I think most of the problem probably with AMD PR deparment. Remember when AMD start white listing which site will get sample from AMD for review? It seems to me that you cannot say the 'con' side of AMD card if you want your sample. Hardocp not getting nano sample probably understandable because they were quite harsh on Fury X review. But i think there is no reason for TPU for not getting theirs. But maybe because TPU always mention the "con" side for every card they review they got axe from amd list.

And back with [H] story with AMD Kyle mention that AMD try to bribe him to take down the Roy Taylor story and even promised to give priority to [H] in AMD event. I think that is very serious accusation.

Definitely there are mid-range and low-end cards, in addition to a GTX 1080 Ti top-end card.

We should also be seeing reviews of the $379 GTX 1070 on May 30th, which is apparently faster than a TitanX.

Sweet! With how powerful these cards are, it really does make me wonder if the gtx 1050 will reach gtx 960 ti (if real) performance for $150.

I didn't notice that it had lights on it at the time I posted. I am not a fan of lights of graphics cards. Just paying a premium price for unwanted facets.

I agree with the comment that Math Geek put in soon after though. I like Asus Strix for being quiet. My 980 is a complete beauty. I have a Fractal Design Arc Midi 2, and it still has almost stock configuration of case fans. I added a ULN Noctua at 800rpm.

With the 980, the case fans can be left on minimum at 5V and run The Witcher 3 maxed out. Basically it will max any game and not be audible as long as the filters on my case are clean. (One quick pass of the vaccum cleaner over the case exterior, is all that is needed to keep them clean.)

I had two Asus 970 before that. The first was quiet but locked up the PC at desktop for a few seconds now and again. The second 970 was a fractionally noisier.

The 980 is the quietist. Max it ever needs is case fans put to 7V in hot weather or if the case filters get dusty.

I am however open minded to other manufacturers and almost bought an MSI 980 Ti.

Fractal Design makes some good cases am I right or am I right? I got an Arc Mini myself.

And you're right, you gotta keep the filters clean, it makes all the difference.

Check this link out. You can get a 1080 as "cheap" as 669 Euros. Not the Founders Edition though. Those sell for around 800.

you're welcome 😀

i actually have even more data on a spreadsheet including power phases and other info for each card that i could find. as soon as i can figure out how to share a google docs link to it, (can't seem to figure out how that part works yet) i'll post that as well. i'll be keeping things as updated as possible as time permits and information is available.

one thing i did note is that the asus strix cards are the only ones that changed the stock outputs. they chose to go with 2 DP and 2 HDMI but everyone else so far has left it as 3 DP and 1 HDMI

thanks for that link. actually has a brand of cards on it, i did not even know about. never heard of KFA^2. must be a european brand we don't get in the US. i'll add them to the master list.

appears to be a leaked 1070 founder edition review. http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-titan-x-killer/

benchmarks and oc results included. looks to be just above the titan x/furyx/980ti cards. not bad at all for the money. custom cards should be a heck of a deal. one day earlier than nda lift so someone gonna be in trouble.....
