The Asus Strix looks insane http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asus-strix-gtx-1080-revealed,31905.html
It is very good looking. I want one. Incredible looking design.
I think it's going to be out-pricing itself in the UK though. I am not gonna pay £600 for one while the US pays $600. It's not the fact that it doesn't seem fair. It's the price/performance. My 980 cost £400, so for 50% more cost the 1080 is average about 50% more performance. I don't need it yet.
Even if the Asus 1080 came down to about £500, I doubt I would need it yet. I think the only reason for moving to a 1080 for me is either to move to 1440p gaming. Or for the extra VRAM.
I am excited for folks who the upgrade it totally worth it, though. It's mega-congratulations for them.
To me its a bit too flashy, tbh. I prefer a simpler design, like the EVGA 1080, even though I am a bit of an Asus fanboy.
As for the price... well, it has always been like that for Europe. I will upgrade to a custom 1080 as soon as some serious PCB's with more power and more overclocking headroom come out but I am upgrading an ancient hd5870, not a fairly new 980.
The EVGA 1080 was overhauled and is more flashy IMO.
