Hi,

I have a Asus gaming laptop and I am thinking of buying the 2560x1440 Dell Monitor and connect my laptop to it. However, I am not sure whether or not my graphics card (gtx 560m) would be able to support that resolution? I read somewhere that the graphic card's "native" resolution is 1920x1080, but I'm not really sure what that means. Do you think there would be any issues with this combination, regarding frame rates and such, or resolution itself? Sorry I'm not very informed about this subject, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, sir, you have given me the perfect answer and thank you very much! I should've researched more:) Thanks for your time.

Make sure you have the right output ports to run that resolution. VGA wont be able to, HDMI tops out at 1080p. You will need a (mini)displayport or dual link DVI.

read the original post and thread before replying. we where talking about dual link dvi the whole time

To be honest, I'm confused now. My laptop only has an HDMI port. Would I get the 2560x1440 resolution with an HDMI to DVI cable? Also, I read that HDMI 1.3 has the capability to get full 2560x1440 resolution but I'm not sure, also I don't know how to check whether my hdmi port on the laptop is hdmi 1.3 as well.
