Farther down the line I'm hearing the 7000 are not dependable...as in breaking down months later...some even weeks. Also.... drivers for AMD are twitchy...always have been. I'm using the 6870 right now and was given one for free so I sold it because Crossfire mode just takes up too much space and I'm thinking of selling my other one to get the 660 ti even though I could get the 7870. However...driver-wise and quality wise I'm still thinking Nvidia. Go on newegg and read about the 7000 series reviews...kinda scary. The 660-680 series much more reliable. And if you don't care about AA..which I don't.

There's problems with every card. Google "GeForce problem" and get 15 million... results then google "Radeon problem" and you get about 17 million.

In my experience as a reviewer, I've had GeForces and Radeons die. it happens.
As for drivers, it's not 1999 anymore. Both GeForce and Radeons have their quirks. Neither are perfect, but both work very well in 99% of games and scenarios. And both screw up with certain titles and settings. Google that, too. :)

Google 13.1 AMD drivers is far the scariest thing I've ever seen though. I've heard you gotta do all these workarounds for what...5% increase...if that. Crysys 3 runs fine on my 6870 medium graphics. I think the 6000 series are far more stable cards than the 7000 ones...that's all I'm saying. On Newegg there were far more 5 star ratings compared to AMD's 7000 series cards. Take a look for yourself. I'm riding the 6870 for awhile longer, but hoping to leap to the 660 or 660 Ti if possible. It's not HUGE gains...but for how many games I play it doesn't really matter...both cards would handle the ones I'll be playing. I won't be playing Crysis 3 MP retail...just the SP mode anyhow. I know Bioshock won't tax the 6870 either since it's a port. Most games are held back as of late because of consoles so I don't see the reason to get the uber 670 or 680...but something that is the best bang would be the 660 ti for under $250

You've heard... haven't seen it firsthand tho?

It's my job to live with all of these cards and test them in a constant basis. I hear this GPU is terrible, that GPU is terrible, all the time. Mreh. 90% of the time it's from a guy who had a bad card of either kind, swore them off, and swears by the other one.

Still haven't seen any compelling reason to say one is better than the other in the last 10 years. They both screw up, they're both generally quite good.
