NVIDIA GT70M vs AMD HD8750M

Hello, I'm in dillema again choosing between the two beauty here. Consider all feature is the same, dimension is almost the same, body is of aluminum.

Samsung serie 3 got: i3-3110M + HD 8750M 1 GB
ASUS A46CB got: i5-3317U + GT740M 2 GB

gpu is the same ddr3 if I'm not mistaken.

Both have the same prosesor (they are actually the same, just branding and TDP difference), but different GPU.

I will likely most of the time use it to work (office, primavera - this has quite high requirement, microsoft project), multimedia (watching movies, music - I love music), and most importantly gaming (I play all AAA title and most of the time play Dota2).

Samsung got $65 cheaper here and that is quite something for me as it's worth half month + few days allowance for food.

So which one you guys recommend?

The GT740 is better and generates less heat. So yeah, easy one.

How do they have the same processor ones an i3 3110m and ones an i5 3317u the i5+gt740m would bench way higher then the i3 and 8750m

Mobile I5s are almost identical to mobile I3s, there is usually just a slight clockspeed increase.

Both are crap for gaming so just pick the system based on other merits.

yeah, I want a laptop that can be used for gaming anywhere but not a gaming laptop. I got a desktop for that, but the thing is my job makes me travel so much and I kinda bored, so I wanna game on my travel too. These two laptop maybe not the beefiest out there, but they are light, perfect for travelling, and they got some power for gaming. I'm not a gaming enthusiast so I don't mind the quality of 1366x768 as long as I got decent FPS. It's just I'm wondering should I spend $65 more for ASUS or Samsung is already enough for my need.

Well, according notebookcheck links that novuake gave, yes it's clear as day that GT 740M is better. So should I spend $65 more for that or HD8750M is enough?

P.S: For i5-3317U and i3-3110M, mind that ULV processor isn't the same with non-ULV.

They are actually the same, only TDP difference and unlocked turbo boost. Do not get misleaded by branding scam (like AMD HD 5750 and HD6750, rebranding but lowering TDP, the rest is the same).

yeah, I want a laptop that can be used for gaming anywhere but not a gaming laptop. LOL yeah, just proving a point, MOBILE PC gaming isn't possible, that huge thing would need to be plugged in to game at all.

Get the 740m, its worth it if you game AT ALL!

I have an and Radeon HD 8750m 2 GB graphics. But sadly I can't run games like metro 2033 on ultra just on high 🙁 anyways I'm getting a way faster laptop. Back to your question I think that the nvidia is actually a little better. I know that and is better than nvidia but with these specs you are giving it's nothing. If you are going to run very high rez games like bf4 go for an i7 2.6 GHz with nvidia GeForce 770 and 8GB RAM like my brother's laptop and you will be able to run it on ultra with no problem 🙂
