That is the only way that Optimus pertains to Nvidia ........ ^^ "Transforming older generations to new ones!" i.e.- 8000 to 9000 to GTS etc. I do like some of their lines for specific reasons...... BUT those reasons DO NOT and WILL NOT make me feel better about their rebranding habits. I have a ton of video cards that have been aquired one way or another they include but are not limited to NVIDIA - 8000 series (8200-8800gt- no longer used)9000 series (9400gs, n9500gt, 9800GSO, 9800gt, 9800GTX, 9800GX2-all for cuda/Physx) 200 series (GTX 295, GTS 250, GTX 280. ATI - Radeon X series(x700,1500pro - not used)2000 Series (2900xt - not used) 3000 Series (3450,3650, 3850,3870x2-2 - x2's are still used in CF)4000 Series (4650, 4770-2, 4870, 4870x2)and a few 5000 (5650,5770-2,5870) I have been collecting these for some time. Right now the only thing I use my Nvidia cards for is physx, Cuda and a back up gamer with the GTX280)GTX 280. That does not mean that in the future I might be going back to Nvidia graphics.
Now my point with this is - I see more of an overall picture than the average gamer or enthusiast when it comes to the performance of these cards. Performance actually flip flops back and forth between generations and makers. Just because you get a new new series of card doesnt mean you will get a better performing piece of hardware. Nvidia is infamous for this rebranding B.S. I have watched that crap for a long time and it really pulls at my nerves. BUT hey they have to optimize their profits right?! This is where Optimus actually comes in to play.
