Have any of you seen the recent Samsung commercial where a person is in line camping out at a store with a logo that looks like a fruit, implying that waiting in line to upgrade your phone every year is ridiculous. Talk about kettle calling the pot black. I thought of that commercial thinking "waiting/camping" in front of stores for a product launch is nothing new, did everyone forget they used to do this for the major
Windows releases?

There is zero chance someone is making $5000 in profit from one 5090.
You are underestimating the stupidity of people with large sums of money.

My comment was based on the fact that there is already at least one listing on eBay for $7000. Several for $5000... so....

Heck, you realize that the 4090 can't be bought for less than $2500 right now?

Who cares? Scalpers are free to ask whatever they want. Doesn't mean they are going to get it. PS5 Pro scalpers were reportedly selling for below MSRP because of low demand.

Time will tell. So far, the evidence is fairly clear by doing a simple search on eBay for sold listings:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nk...cat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

So far it looks like the highest sale was for just south of $6200, so more than a few scalpers are laughing all the way to the bank.

MSRP for an Astral OC is an insane $2800. After adding tax, that would be over $3000 for me. Even in the unlikely chance that's a legitimate sale, the profit is around $2500 after ebay fees, which is no where near $5000.

Regardless of whether the seller made $3000 or $5000, if you think that more than doubling your money on a sale isn't good business (for a seller) then you are not good at business.

The point remains that, depending on a wide range of factors, such as a person's job, time availability, etc... if a person wanted to camp in front of a Microcenter for 3 days in order to double their investment of $2000, for some people it would be worth it.
