nvidia shadowplay/recording very low game volume

hi
every time i record a gameplay clip using shadowplay, it record clear normal volume of my voice through my mic, but the game and voip sound is extremely low basically as if there is no sound. only suggestions i have seen is adjusting the volume in volume mixer but this only applies if i start recording, not capturing my previous X minutes of gameplay.
does anyone know of a fix for this, or should i just be recording mute videos?

That is typically Nvidia Capture Server set too low. You can adjust it in your Windows Sound panel.
