Editing error? lol wtf.

Give tablets 2-3 years and lets see if they still around.
Prices are outrageous at the moment, and the lack of actual usefulness is killing the actual develop of the tablets.
I see tablets as a gadget rather than an actual useful device, call me crazy but i like the keyboard and the lack of latency it has when i spam the keys.
Plus tablets are selling because all the good advertisement apple did, I mean, lets put it this way, if you want to surf the web on the run, Iphone does that, if you want to game on the run(hardcore)you can get PSP , maybe DS or even again Iphone, even the Ipod touch can handle games.
What I do not understand it's how the tablet is better as a concept of non-keyboard device if it's for using indoor. How do they explain that's better to have a tablet rather than having a netbook/notebook at home.
Help me understand!

Nail on the head. It's an apple fanboy fad, there's a few good uses for them but not many. Apple fanboys will buy anything if it's shiny and made by apple (and yes, you CAN polish a turd to shiny - mythbusters did it).

yeah... the ' - ' is the thing that makes a difference

"Honestly, this old saw again?"

*sigh* You should probably have considered continuing reading the rest of my post and the intent of that statement would have been clear.

It's not a dig against Apple, heck it's probably something of a compliment as far as business goes. Apple has an amazing marketing machine, they've succeeded at hyping the tablet computer concept to the point of selling hundreds of thousands of devices without actually offering anything particularly compelling as far as hard- and software goes.

That's admirable.

My concern is that there's still no compelling reason to use a tablet computer, iPad or otherwise. No killer app, no unique usage scenario which such a device does particularly well.

Thus while I'll gladly admit to Apple 'creating a market' I have a hard time believing it'll last. The device has a lot of drawbacks when compared to a portable media player, smartphone or notebook computer and doesn't offer anything new that these devices can't do.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, I'm certainly not a prophet, but I feel there's compelling reasons to believe that tablet computing will fall flat on its face this time around as well.

Last weekend I was at a Best Buy store. I happened to walk by an Apple display featuring the iPad. I looked at one of the iPads and quickly realised it was displaying a web page. I was able to type in the URL for Tom's Hardware. The main page looked identical to the main page I see on my personal pc. I tried a few more web sites as well as my own site. They all came up up without any problem. My only gripe is the text is tiny on the small screen. My other gripe was the touchscreen keyboard. It's kind of small too and part of the layout is non-standard. The iPad had one very thin cable attached to it. I don't know what the other end of the cable was connected to because the cable disappeared in hole in the counter. Now I'm wondering about the demographics of the typical iPad user. Obviously they are not hardcore gamers or overclocking enthusiasts.

Yes, the title is really confusing, and you have to read it again, mindful of the dash, for you to get the message. Regardless, even if you come up with a hardware that is superior to the iPad, it should also come with it the ease of use which iPad has. This is more important we think, in addition to the popularity and marketing savvy of Apple, of course.

Finally, a small form factor tablet/pad with some balls. And Apple is far from trend setting, they simply have a killer marketing department that's adept at brainwashing those who can't think for themselves... Tablets have been around for a very, very, very long time. And the fact that Apple hails this piece of crap ipad as the second coming of jesus is proof of jobs' and their arrogance/ignorance. The ipad is so great that you don't even have the freedom to load any & everything that you want on it. Instead of shrinking the ipod touch, they enlarge it and decided to charge all the bandwagon apple fans out there $600 while they were at it. Getting back to the original article, thank you foxconn for making something worth while. Kudos.

Tablets... ehh... 2 years ago I purchased a Motion Computing LE1700 with an Intel Core 2 duo and 4GB ram. Its not much bigger than the iPad and has a BUTTLOAD more horse power. Albeit a much higher price tag as well, but the point is: Tablets are old news. Apple just polished a turd and started selling it as something new changing the word tablet to pad. This whole thing really sickens me.

Hmmm......could they come up with something new? Just another Apple copycat
