Oops, pressed the 'submit' button too soon. It seems like this Rambus v Nvidia thing might come to an end.. It seems that Rambus have what they want. Hmm..

At least RAMBUS doesn't have any issues with AMD/ATI, for now. But you know something in RAMBUS head screams "Go for it" one day, at least not today :)

The ram leaches are at it again. Still got the bad taste of RDRAM and how it botched a whole generation of cpus. They are the reason why the PS3 only got 256mb of system ram while the crummy RSX is Nvidia's fault when they should have used the G71 instead of the older G70.

[citation][nom]ricin[/nom]Correct headline: "nVidia gets owned by Rambus sales team."[/citation]
Correction:
"nVidia gets owned by Rambus' litigation team."

All they are is a technology patent law firm.

Hopefully the other memory manufacturers are keeping Rambus spies out of the meeting rooms where they discuss new memory tech. Can't wait for their stupid patents to become irrelevant.

"Nvidia has granted no licenses to Rambus."

That's because Rambus doesn't need any licenses because they don't actually build anything useful or contribute to the tech industry in any beneficial way. They just leech off of other companies that actually serve a good purpose.

Im curious about what exactly Rambus is claiming ownership for which is common between DDR-GDDR5. I thought Rambus made RDRAM.

It would also be nice to know the patent dates... then we would know how much longer we have to put up with them. (patent date plus 17 years)

"Nvidia has granted no licenses to Rambus."

Because they have no need to make anything when they can just patent troll.

Wasn't their an article a few weeks back that said their income was something like 80%+ patent royalties?

I think it was closer to 90%. Yeah, Rambus would have to make something to need to license other peoples technology.

Man I hate Rambus so much. Sure, they created a lot of the tech behind SDRAM, DDR and GDDR, but the way they got it into the marketplace pisses me off. For those who don't know, they sat on the board that designed DDR and had a lot of influence on it. Only after DDR was standardized did they mention that, "oh, by the way, we have patents on all that technology we suggested you use, so now you all owe us money if you want to produce DDR". Not only that, but by competing against DDR with their own RDRAM, they ensured the only winner in the end would be Rambus. Total scum.
