Question NVME To PCIE Adapter not working?

the ssd slot on my motherboard broke so I got a PCIE to NVME adapter. When turned on my PC everything lights up on the adapter but my ssd is continuously flashing red and not being recognized. Windows 11 is already on the ssd so shouldn't it be working?


Specs: Gigabyte ds3h b450
16gb ram
Ryzen 5 5600x
Radeon powercolor Rx 570
Windows11.

What specific adapter?

I'm using one myself. SIIG brand; about 15 dollars from Newegg.

SIIG M.2 NGFF SSD M Key NVME PCIe 3.0 x 4 Card Adapter - (SC-M20014-S1)

Did you previously use the same NVMe drive successfully in the now broken slot?

Did you simply move the NVMe with a working Windows installation onto the card in the slot, or did you do a new install?

Do you know for a fact that your motherboard supports booting from an NVMe drive?

First question: I'm using one from Amazon. A Chinese brand called Yiovvom.

Second question: Yes

third question: I did not do a new install. I didn't change anything on the ssd before the slot stopped working

You're on Windows 11, which is an unknown to me.

I'd fish around in the BIOS, looking for relevant settings.

It had been working for a while with visible physical damage. I shifted the motherboard to install some fans and that's probably what finally did it even tho I didn't touch the slot.

So it was working and booting, then you moved some stuff around, and it is now not working?
