Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion dv7 with ATI Radeon Mobility 5650. I installed Neverwinter Nights 2 Platinum Edition and the game is very choppy. I have the came running under Windows XP Compatability, turned off shadow effects, lowered resolution and still it runs choppy. I also went into the player.ini file and there is no CPU affinity Setting. Anyone with experiance with this? Running on Windows 7 64 bit.

The main issue with NWN2 is that it is singly threaded. Your other CPU core(s) do nothing. NWN2 (and it's expansion, Mask of the Betrayer), would be pretty much my favorite RPG of all time - so well worth sticking with, despite the performance issues. I used to run it on an OCed Athlon 4200 at 2.6GHz and an 8800GTS, and it was always pretty choppy (but nonetheless definitely playable). What you need to run it perfect is a CPU with a clock frequency north of 3 GHz (presumably, a 2.6 GHz Nehalem would probably do the trick also).

I was having this same issue until I found a thread that recommended restarting your computer before playing...something about nwn2 relying on a timer in windows....but anyways when I restart my computer prior to playing, the game runs like a champ. Just my 2 cents-
