I feel as though it's time to upgrade my CPU, and I'd like to get some insight as to what would go best with my build while also being on the cheaper side of things. It's for gaming. Also as a side maybe some cheaper SSD suggestions? Any help would be appreciated

To be honest with you the best upgrade with that motherboard would be a 4790k but its not worth it, You would be better of saving money and buying a new motherboard, ram, cpu i myself have just upgraded from a i5-4690k to a Ryzen 5 2600 and im happy with the upgrade. In the long run its your decision but in my opinion you would be wasting money upgrading to a new cpu for that board considering its a 4th gen cpu and DDR3 ram.

My old setup
Asrock Z-97x Killer
I5-4690K 4.5GHz(OC)
16GB G-Skill Ripjaw 2400Mhz (DDR3)

My new setup
MSI X470 Gaming Plus
Ryzen 5 2600 3.4Ghz
16GB Corsair Vengence 3000MHz (DDR4)
