I recently reset Pleasantville so I could play it again from scratch and I
decided not to add a bunch of my own characters or build new houses in that
particular neighborhood because it's already so memory-heavy. I discovered
something about every one of the Maxis houses that are unoccupied in that
neighborhood. The bedrooms are all built too small for double beds! Every
one of them! Why in the world did they do that? Don't they want the sims
to woohoo? LOL

Yup. I noticed that too. Actually I usually have to expand a pre-fab
Maxis house myself, unless it's one of the mansions.

I hate those mansions! So chopped up! I tried to play one before I reset
the neighborhood and had Bill, Hillary and Chelsea move into that huge one.
UGH! Impossible to play! Why, when George, Laura and the twins stopped by,
it took Bill over an hour to get to the door! LOL

All the smaller to medium size homes Maxis builds give me a hard time when
it comes to decorating. No area seems right as a living room w/ a sofa & tv.
It just won't fit correctly. And then the counters don't wrap well with how
the walls are done to try and make a kitchen..or a dining table won't fit in
the same area! lol And the bedrooms...ugh..not room enough for a bed &
dresser..or a full bed. Lately I've been laying my furniture down first and
building my own homes around it.

Sometimes I take down walls. I also expand rooms if it's not too much
trouble. But yes, Maxis makes some terrible houses, but with all the
wonderful houses on various sites, such as SimResource, there's no need
to mess with most of Maxis' creations, eh? 🙂

Oh, I should have added that the same thing is true with clothes. My
sims rarely wear the Maxis default clothes, with a few exceptions (some
of the basic tanks and shirts). It's a good thing the Townies do
because they're the only ones!

A better movement algorithm would make more houses playable. In reality,
if a person steps into my way, I wait a few seconds for him to pass by; a
Sim would happily back up and go for a 30 minutes walk on another path. I
was hoping they would fix this with University, but no...

There is definately one house in Pleasantville that is big enough for a
double bed cos my sims moved in and woo hooed and had 4 kids... of course
I'd renovated and extended by that time. It's the one that has the double
story window at the front...
