I want to oc my i5 10600k to 5.0 or 5.1 ghz
And I also want my viper 4400 ram to be stable cause I get blue screen if I use xmp 2 .
I currently have them at 4266 with 1.500 voltage and some timings from a yt video. But I need to adjust the timings for 4400 MHz my motherboard Is an msi mag z490 tomahawk. Btw my cpu now is at 4.8ghz 1.350 voltage override mode, 45 ring ratio 46 also works but I think 45 is better but i think if I achieve the 5.0 ghz I want a 48 ring ratio. Cooling is kraken x63.
Also I tried just changing core ratio to 5.0 instant blue screen xd.

Thank you for everyone that helps me !!!

What are the timings of the memory running that speed in general you can get better overall performance with Intel running it...

You seem to be on a very high voltage for your rams. I'd have cut off at 1.4v. Mind sharing a link to the rams you've purchased? Also, which BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? You might want to also share what your timings are.

comet lake is a bit of a bully in what comes to OC, vcore is the answer, 1.4v in my opinion is the max you should go, more than that is pushing it, and the gain is little, overclocking the ring is tempting but negligible, though i doubt it will do much to help with the core oc, lower it, in fact, auto it, and give it a go, 4900/5000

What are the timings of the memory running that speed in general you can get better overall performance with Intel running it at about 3600 if you can get the cas down to about 14. Intel is not as dependent on memory speed as AMD, yes it helps to a point but nothing worth the price of 4400 memory

For the processor 5.0 is not a magical number I have no clue why everybody thinks it is with diminishing returns you would probably see no real world difference in that and 4.8.

If you have to run it @ 1.35 to just get 4.8 you either have a very poor chip (luck of the draw) or your doing some things wrong or a combination of both.

This is from silicone lottery.

Your trying to push everything past the edge and getting no results in return.

I think you need to reset BIOS and start over, I would not go over about 1.42 on the memory or 1.32 on the processor.

Your hardware your money push it as hard as you wish.

ok so i change cpu voltage to 1260 everything is fine
i left ring ratio at auto
and ram voltage iam using the profile 1 xmp to see if iam still getting blue screen 1.450 on the ram

so iam playing right now no blue screen iam might be stupid and the bluscreen was from the ring ratio and not the ram xmp profile
cpu voltage 1260 overide mode and ram 1450 i also reseted bios not bettary rest i just pressed reset defaults disabled c states thats all. 19-19-19-36 ram timings i think this profile is bad xd

I stopped watching that at a 1:30 mark when he raised the thermal limit of the processor. If your already at 100C and hitting throttling your doing stupid stuff.

i ignored that part i was like wtf xd

if i only play with this timings 19-19-19-38 and leave everythink else on auto is it correct ?
like drop to 3600mhz and try 15-15-15-36 and how do i test it if its stable ?
Should i also try 14-14-14-34 3600 ?
is it better than 19-19-19-38 4200 ?

If you don't enable XMP, you do have to manually enter the speed(4266), primary timings(19-19-19-39, not 38), and Dram voltage for both channels(1.35v). XMP does all that for you though.

Memtest86 - it has a free Home Edition. A custom run for 8 passes, not the default 4, and it should be golden if it passes.
Run it overnight - the more ram you have, the longer the test takes; my 4x 8GB kit takes some 13hrs to complete 8 passes... 16GBs shouldn't take nearly as long.

ok one more thing
right now my cpu is at 4.8 with 1.260 voltage and overide mode
if i change to 5.0 or 4.9 with 1300 voltage and overide mode i cant boot to windows lol
do i have to change somethink else too except core ratio voltage and voltage mode ?

Umm, that's a guide for 10900K, not a 10600K - I'm not saying that you can't apply it to a 10600K, but the 2 cpus have different bins.

Zerk2012 already linked a good reference to what your odds are of having a 10600K that can run the desired speeds.

Please note that MSI mobo has a daisy chain topology and it works better with 2 sticks, so if you have 4 sticks then leave the XMP. There are a lot of nuances here, I worked with this. CPU overclocking - what settings did you make in BIOS? Every step is needed.

Here is a simple formula 3600/14 = 257.1428 ... 4200/19 = 221.052 the higher the result, the better, the bandwidth of the RAM depends on it. But 3600 with CL14 timings should be RAM with the selected chips.
