Office updates failing repeatedly

When I do Windows Update, it keeps trying to install the same updates to Office, and it keeps failing. Admittedly, this is Office 2003. Has anyone seen this? Is it a bug, indicative of an attack, or indicative of an error on my part?

The updates are

I have had no success with Microsoft's suggestion which involves:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In the details pane of Registry Editor, locate AppData. The value of this key should be %USERPROFILE%\Application Data.

And solved. I manually started the Office Source Engine service. Automatic update applied the updates, and I am clean again. Well, my system is, anyway.

Hmm, how do I accept my own answer?
