Question Old HDD

Hi all, I’m building a new pc and want to use my WD 4TB red HDD from my old pc. Can I just plug it in to my new pc? Or do I need to re-format it from my old pc before doing so? Thanks.

If your are not running Windows on the WD 4TB, but just using it for storage, you don't need to change anything.

If your "old" hdd was used as your boot drive, make sure that your other drive is marked as your boot drive in the bios of your new pc

No it was only used as a storage drive. I’ve got a new nvme ssd m.2 as a boot drive.

it should recognize it regardless, does it show up in your bios?
