Hi,
I was told that 'Unfortunately Pentium 3's do not support running 64 bit operating systems.'
However, I really noticed many other people say that I should run a hardware reading program, such as 'SecurAble' to be sure that my processor will be capable to run 64Bit operating systems or not.
Thus, if only Pentium 3's do not support running 64 bit operating systems, then there is no need from running such a program(screen shot below).

I really run this program using Windows 7(64Bit) with HP Laptop Core i5. And this is the reslut:

64-Bit Processing Available

This processor does offer 64-bit modes of operation. This means that this system is able to run the significantly more secure 64-bit versions of Microsoft's Windows XP and Vista operating systems.

The biggest challenge for 64-bit Windows systems is the fact that existing 32-bit device drivers cannot be used by the 64-bit operating system kernel. So if you do plan to try switching to 64-bit Windows, you should be sure to have a means for reverting to 32-bit operation if your system's hardware turns out to be incompatible with 64-bit operation. Many people have reverted to 32-bit operation after bravely giving 64-bits a try for a short time.

Could you please udnerstand me? Could you please be a little more detailed to address these points below??

First: I want to know how to determine if a processor is 64 bit capable or not in order to decied which version of Windows I should install.

Second: If the computer is new(it doesn't have a windows installed), then how to determine if its processor is 64Bit capable as long as I will not be able to install a hardware reading program?

Third: I can determine if my processor is 64 bit capable by using a free tool called CPU-Z or that program posted previously, Once I have it installed, double click it and it will scan my system. Iclick the CPU tab and look in the Instructions field, look for the instruction set called AMD64 or EM64T. If I see them, then my processor is 64 bit capable.

Fourth: Pentium 3's processors do not support running 64 bit operating systems. It means that I cannot install Windows 64Bit

Fitth: I know all processors are graded as follows(PI, PII, PIII, PIIII, PIIIII, Core , i3, i5, i7, and so on)?

Finally: I know almost all Pentium processors from ( (PI, up to PII, PIII,) don't have 64-bit capable processor,
and from PIIII, up to core i7 have nd so on) have 64-bit capable processor.

First - you check the manufacturer's specifications for the processor. That will tell you whether it is 64-bit capable. Or you can look in Wikipedia; again, that will give you the required information.

Second - you specifically said that you were running this program on 64-bit Windows. That's not a very useful excercise. Otherwise, see "First".

Third - you don't need to go through that procedure - see "First".

Fourth - I know. But you said that "only Pentium 3's do not support running 64 bit operating systems". That is incorrect. It is true that Pentium 3s do not support 64-bit instruction, but it is not true that all newer processors do.

Fifth - good for you. Is it relevant?

Finally - again, not strictly correct. There are several Intel processors beyond the Pentium 3 that don't support 64-bit instruictions.

Thanks a lot,
You made me more confused by saying 'It is true that Pentium 3s do not support 64-bit instruction, but it is not true that all newer processors do.' and 'There are several Intel processors beyond the Pentium 3 that don't support 64-bit instruictions.'

First: I understood from your comment above, that there are other Intel Pentium processors which also don't support 64-Bit instructions. Yes, I gree with, however, P III processors absolutely don't support 64-bit instruction without needing to detect that.

Second:
■ My PIII processor(with 256MB of RAM) has now a Windows XP SP1(32Bit) installed. However, it couldn't accept installing Windows XP. 64Bit.
My PIIII processor(wth 512MB of RAM) has now a Windows XP SP3(32Bit) installed. However, it could accept installing Windows XP 64Bit.
■ I have 64bit rescue media.

However, [/b] I really was told that that 'Unfortunately Pentium 3's do not support running 64 bit operating systems. You will not be able to boot your 64bit rescue media on a 32bit system. WindowsPE also requires a minimum of 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM to successfully run.'

But, I could booted my 64bit rescue media on my PIIII with Windows XP SP 4 32bit system. AS a result, this would be a contradiction of I couldn't be able to boot my 64bit rescue media on my P 3 with Windows XP SP1 32Bit system

Thus, My question is why couldn't I boot my 64Bit rescue media one 32Bit Windows XP system, and I could booted my 64Bit rescue media on the other 32Bit Windows XP system., although both Windows system were 32Bit.

Finally: If I had tried to install a 64Bit Windows System on processor doesn't support running 64 bit operating systems, what error must I keep encountering?

Intel introduced support for the 64-bit instructions with the Prescott 2M microarchitecture in 2005 and it has been a standard part of all Intel microprocessors since then. The only exceptions are some Intel Atom microprocessors.
