Opening pdf files

One of our computers will not open a pdf properly. This happens with the explorer or firefox browser. Also I have tried foxit reader and sumutra reader.
When I click to open the file it flashes accross the status bar forever. The only way to stop it is with Control,Alt, Delete.

how about using acrobat reader?
