operating system not found

i was using dell studio 1450 laptop and my windows 7 operating system was crashed and i was encountering an error "operating system not found".I have an important data in my hard disk and i need to retrieve the data very safely with out any loose,i tried to reinstall os but i am unable to find the disk partitions,my previous os was installed in c drive,and i have my important data in e drive.......... what to do know 🙁.......... guys any ideas please help

Best way to retrieve the is to take the disk out of the laptop and connect it as an internal disk to a desktop PC.

OS not found can be a symptom of many things. You will need to start with the process of elimination. However DO NOT RE INSTALL THE OS UNTIL YOU HAVE ACCESSED AND BACKED UP THE DATA!

The first thing i would do is physically remove the HDD from the laptop and plug it into an external HDD reader into another computer and see if you can pick up any partitions. Do not attempt to play around with OS disks until you have backed that data up. Give that a try first before commencing any further in trying to fix the issue.

Once you have gathered the data that is provided that you can access the hard drive alright and that you don't have file system corruption or the hard drive is not physically faulty. From there we can look deeper into what the issue is exactly.
