Would it be worth my while in upgrading my NF2ultra + 2500 barton running @ 2.2ghz to a A64-3000 (s939) + a K8T800pro board ???

Only if you OC the hell outta the A64.

The performance difference between an AXP@2.2 and an A64@1.8 is just too small. If you get the A64 up to 2.4 or so, then it will be a significant upgrade, IMO.

but that chipset is crap for overclocking, so it doesnt worth it, period.

A socket 754 3000+ outperform the 3000+ 939, so if it's budget allow no faster CPU, then upgrading to a 754 3000+ with an nforce3 board worth it...i know, I did it!

I understand your point, but in today's context, I would rather get a S939 based system even if I would loose some performance. Because the S939 platform will probably offer a better upgrading opportunity. Socket 754 is not dead, but AMD will not put to the market anything faster for if even if it would be possible.

6 months ago S754 was the best budget AMD64 platform, but with the new S9393 3000+, this platform is now quite affordable.

NOTE : I do prefer nForce3 chipset too, but I would not say that VIA chipset is not good for non-hardcore users.

Wait until Abit brings out thier nforce4 mobo. You know it will be good, then you will be able to oc the chip to 2.6.
Unfortunately it will be pci-exp graphics, so you will have to loose your agp card.

curious to see if the newer architecture would b better than the AXP architecture (64-bitness not withstanding)... yes i would oc an A3000 to 2.2ghz+ when/if i get that one...

would like to keep my r9700pro for a while longer hence the nf3-250/K8t800PRO notion...
