what is that trying to compare the Opteron system has soo much more memory then any of the intel based systems, not to mention various operation systems compared to the mid level xeon chips against the top of the line ipteron.... if you're going to post at least post something worth peoples time to look at
try putting in a system running two top of the line xeon processors with 4 mb caches and 6 gb of ram and then show me the benchmarks

Really... 1.8Ghz opteron vs a 1.7Ghz Xeon.
Any fool knows the P4 architecture int clock per clock equivalent. A better comparison would be a top of the line opteron (1.8Ghz) vs top of the lime Xeon (3.06Ghz)

Hmmm... How come a 1.7Ghz Xeon performs equal to a 2.4Ghz P4?... Huge memory differences, also: the Opteron comes with 6GB! And the 3.0Ghz performs just a bit faster than the Xeon 1.7Ghz? Unbelievable. Something strange.

The same site also shows the advantages of going 64-bit, and they get about 3-5% average increase in performance... Which I hope is wrong...

But anyway, poopy, Opteron might get a kick in some apps that require lots of memory accesses, and even more so if it can cache the whole database it is running. A fair and even comparison would put a more up-to-date Xeon with 6GB of memory in that list, too...

And poopy, stop looking for benchies in which Opteron looks good; we know that it is a respectable processor already. It's like every time you find something, I get the impression you'll post it here like a trophy...

That's just so untrue on so many levels. First of all it's your intelligence (or truthfully the lack thereof) that's bothersome. You can't really think that we're all so stupid, can you? Secondly even if you could actually manage to write a truly thought-provoking post (which hasn't yet happened) then the attitude with which you carry yourself would more than degrade any possible good that might have come from your post. And third, even as an AMD fan, your idiocy and disrespect on your Faux Intel-Inquisition is giving all of us decent AMD fans a bad rep and insulting to us just as much as it is insulting Intel fans. If that were true you would have a point. However, your failure to even comprehend the whole scenario only proves your lack of intellect. People here attack you not because of your pro-AMD stance, and not even because you say things like 'AMD SLAPPED UP INTEL'. We can take that all in stride without even skipping a beat. Hell, over the years us THGC vets have grown pretty used to it in the many AMD/Intel flamewars.

People are mocking and insulting you because you have a bad attitude, you're slower than molasses in an Alaskan winter, and probably most significant of all, your 'proof' of AMD's superiority is always based on unprofessional benchmarks and rumor-mongering. I think it's funniest how the test description mentions that 1 GB of RAM is the bare minimum and performance increases dramatically after you have 4 GB.

Hmm, if you have an Intel chip that is trying to reload objects into memory constantly while the Opteron has the objects available to call from RAM immediately, I believe you have a little bit of a discontinuity in saying the Opteron beats the P4. Don't you think?

Btw, the Opteron had 2 proc's and the P4 had 1. I find that interesting too.

Wouldn't it be funny to learn that the hard drives in the system were ATA33? Anyway...
