Maingear does top notch quality work. They can get any paint job you want + personally make your rig clutter free as possible. I don't own one, but I have been in their job. They know their stuff.
The point of all this is that these 2700k chips are better then 2600k and were not talkin about the factory stats, the 2700 has actual overclocking improvments.....now the fact this is done by selecting the best processor to label 2700k instead of 2600k...I dont care.
[citation][nom]Camikazi[/nom]Why does anyone want a supercar when a Corolla will get you where you want to go? Why does anyone want a 20 room 25 bath mansion when they live alone? Why does anyone need a $500 smartphone when all they do is make calls? The answer is CAUSE THEY CAN!!![/citation]
You know someone is filthy rich when their home has more bathrooms than bedrooms hahahaha
[citation][nom]guru_urug[/nom]Its hard for even an enthusiast to reach 5+Ghz without being very careful. But honestly I dont think such an overclock is even needed. Beyond 4Ghz theres hardly any gain in fps when it comes to gaming.[/citation]
Not really, SB made 5GHz+ very easy, most of the chips can do 4.5 on stock voltage, 5GHz on a good air cooler is possible, 5GHz+ on water even more so. Tho the kind of voltage for 5GHz+ will definitely shorten the life of the chip(but enthusiasts will most likely replace it before it ever reaches the point of degradation.)
But I agree there's not much gain to be had for the amount of extra power and heat it takes to get it that fast.
For distributing computing and processor heavy tasks the extra power is very much worth it. 5GHz vs 4.6GHz can be a huge difference in the time it takes to complete a task. Sure frame for frame may only be a 5second difference; you have 1000 frames, do the math.
IDK people. I have a 2600k and a p67 ws revolution in my main rig and getting to 5ghz wasn't super hard, however I lucked out and got a good chip. However, I built another rig with a 2500k and a z68-ud5 and it just wasn't as overclockable.
I would hope that if you buy a PC that OC'ed to 5.2ghz, that at least the processor comes from the best batch available. You know what I mean. Under Prime 95 that overclocked processor shouldn't exceed 72c.
[citation][nom]amk09[/nom]As jimmy stated not everyone knows how to OC or they are just uncomfortable doing it. The average PC gamer nowadays gets scared when they see a BSOD so they fear that they will ruin the expensive hardware that they paid for. Also an overclock over 5GHz is very difficult to achieve unless you really know what you are doing.[/citation]
How can you say that, the 2700K just came out...
5.0GHz is the upper limit for 2500K/2600K CPUs. We dont know much about this one.
