[citation][nom]johndoe007[/nom]However most people are stupid enough to buy/build a PC with a 6 core processor and only use it for things like GAMING (dont need 6 cores morons), word, facebook, turbotax, watching movies, etc...Most ppl buy these things just to say they did as their insecurities prevent their brain from thinking logically. Like those dumb kids with 16GB of ram and running a 32 bit system (only utilizes 3.33).[/citation]
A 6 core processor will provide a massive performance improvement on all 3D DirectX 9 and later games even if the game is single threaded. This is because a 6 core processor will prevent background tasks from slowing the game down. In Windows 7 and Vista if you have UAC enabled this will prevent DVD and Blu-Ray player software from using your graphics card's video processing so the more cores you have the better your video quality will be. BTW, hardly anyone uses 32-bit Vista or Windows 7. Almost everybody with these Windows versions is using 64-bit Windows.

I agree with noodlegts, some people don't have the time to overclock, or their time is worth more than the $1000/(time it takes to overclock)

Computer enthusiasts come in all income brackets.

A dual core CPU does the same thing smartwad, you don't need 6 cores for background tasks.

You are right, BUT we dont need a bunch of smartwad whinning about a 6-core CPU. Every properly multithreaded game, encoding and production software will benefit from the 2 more cores.

Id bet you are still on XP and you run notepad.exe as your main productivity application on a C2D e4200 with 1GB of RAM? If you dont like it, dont buy it.

I priced a gulftown system at about 2600 dollars, not including my valuable time building it. I am tempted though. I really want pci-e 3.0 out though.

920's overclock pretty well. I'm not sure why anyone would buy anything else as far as i7's are concerned. The price/performance ratio is just too high.

[citation][nom]jellico[/nom]I think you mean most people HERE. Most people, in general, know dick about computers and just use them to do Excel spreadsheets, Facebook, and TurboTax.[/citation]
yeah i agree, i can see rich 14 year olds who think facebook is the world and do nothing else besides that but they can brag about it. as a CG designer, this would greatly increase render speed and reduce so much stress on the cores. Media programs are some of the few that ACTUALLY support multicores

[citation][nom]4ILY45[/nom]+1 agree with him...some of them can even tell the difference between a BIOS to a BSOD..[/citation]

Well both screens are blue....

/idiot

Sadly it's true, If I said either to most people I know they would give me the oddest look.

Man I would like dual CPU mainboards and chips to come out again. 12 cores would be great for 3D Studio

not here in aus..the i5-750 takes that spot away from it...they're like $250 and $380 respectively, then like $200 to $280 for mobo, and ram is like $130 to $190 here as well...thats a lot of difference for HT, lack of TB, and an extra x16 slot....
that $270 could increase from a 5850 to a 5870 easily, and if you found a good bargain, would go most of the way to getting 2x 5850s instead. (5850s are like $370-$450 here)
(all in AU $$)

Wait..pay an $1044 for the exact same CPU that they will also sell you for $895 just because they overclocked it for you? LOL...I have seen this companies site before when something about them was featured here a while back I believe and they are quite the racket...BUT...if you don't want to overclock it yourself then this might be a good deal for some folks.

Not knowing the intricacies of computer hardware and software does not make you an idiot just the same as me not knowing anything about snails does not make me an idiot. People are ignorant on the subjects but just because they aren't well versed in tech doesn't mean they are morons or idiots.

It's a little steep for overclocking but that's a very nice overclock that even Anandtech couldn't achieve with their first or second try. Plus you get the presence of mind that this factory overclock comes with a full warranty whereas if you just did this yourself you could risk permanent damage. I personally wouldn't pay for an overclock but I also wouldn't even consider buying this CPU in the first place so my opinion is biased.

Yeah, but a 6 core processor does it better than a dual core.

well, i was one of those "idiots" myself...

+1 to you my friend.. it's all about ignorance.. & has nothing to do with being an idiot.. everyone is born with the same potential..
