I have an M.2 SSD and I want to take my OS off of my HDD. People have recommended cloning and a Fresh install. I don’t wanna do a clone because people be having problems after the clone. I have an Prebuilt from HP and I am sure I can do a Fresh install of Windows 10. I have a 16gb Flash drive and I am sure that is more than enough for the media creation tool. Now onto the question. Can I download the media creation tool from my pc ( the pc that I am doing a clean installation) because I don’t have a extra computer to download it from?

Solution
Yes.
You download the MediaCreation tool.
Run it, and it will create the install on a flash drive. (blank, 8GB or larger)
You can do this from any PC, including the one you are using right now.

Disconnect all drives, put in your new drive, boot from that flash drive, and install.

All laid out in the second link I posted.
You have to download the windows media creation tool here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You will need to use a software like rufus to make that ISO file bootable from the usb:
https://rufus.ie

The windows version won't be activated however since the creation tool doesn't come with a key, it just installs windows. Unfortunately you can't extract a windows key from an OEM drive since you were given a pre-built system. You can try to find it using this guide or hopefully the people who pre-built it gave you the windows key along with your purchase. If neither works you'll just have to buy a new windows key if you are bothered by the "windows not activated" watermark you'll start seeing soon after installing. It's not really an issue for most people but that's more preference.

I recommend cloning and then doing a fresh reboot of windows, the reboot should clear most complications since those complications mostly come from bad registry files and other installed software. Since it'll be refreshed that should clear most issues. So you won't have to deal with that or anything else I wrote above. But it's up to you.

Download and run the MediaCreation tool.
It will create the USB to install from. Rufus is not needed.

Reinstall on this same system does NOT incur any licensing issues.
It will activate itself when the system goess online.

Yea I know all of this. The other guy is completely wrong but I am saying can I download the media creation tool on the pc that I am doing a clean install on. If you don’t understand what I am saying lemme break it down.

I have my flash drive. The only pc that is in my house is my My PC (The Pc that I am doing a clean install on). Do I have to use another computer to download the media creation tool to my USB, or can I use my PC (The PC I am doing a clean install on) to download it on my USB?
