outlook problem

When I recieve an email with a JPEG attachment into Outlook (NOT express),
there is an icon in the bottom panel, but the picture does not automatically
open. I can drag the file onto my desktop and open it without difficulties,
but I would rather see instantly. When I click on icon, Netscape Navigator
opens! What is going on? Any recommendations?

Thanks,

CJ

Sounds like when you installed Netscape you let it take
ownership (file associations) to too many files. Right the
icon (file) and select "open with" and select the program
you want. If it works as you want, do it again and check
the box, "a;ways open with" and your issue is solved.

I think your file associations are messed up, so that Netscape is
associated with jpg files.

Steve - thanks for the advice. That has worked in that JPEG opens up with
windows viewer when I click on it now. How do I get JPEG to automatically
open when I open email with Outlook?

cpj, you are quite welcome. I think, and others please comment, that
there are inline images and images that show as attachments. I would
think you don’t have a problem with inline images (i.e. the ones that
show naturally as part of the message). Attachments are always opened
with external applications, so I don’t think there is anything one can
do about that.
