You can get ... 4-4-3-8 Supertalent memory for $210 ($189 after MIR)...

hmmmm....

This is what I was looking for, especially when they said the cap was $250 and SuperTalent rings in at about $215 (as you said).

Also, aren't the SuperTalent's D9 with nasty timings? (4-4-3-8 ftw!)

Weird.

8O I, too, wish that the memory IC chips were identified. Too many mfr switching chips. It's particularly tough to decipher when they change ("tweak") specified frequency, timings and voltage ratings. Is it Elpida or Micron? If they memory was changed, then you possibly end up buying not what you intended.

Here's the link to the newegg site: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144

PEP does stand for Patriot Extreme Performance in the part number. PDC stands for Patriot Dual Channel which is still in the Extreme Performance line, just in kits.

Hope this helps!

Yeah ok, but what about the different part number: 21G instead of 22G?
Is it the same? Could it be that the one is 21-st Generation
and the second- 22-nd?
This is a pure speculation of course.

The review said 22G, the Newegg link says 22G, I don't see what the problem is?

There is actually no Problem, I don't know where have you seen one.
I was asking a question about the part number.
As I said above I'm talking about german shops and not about newegg.
Newegg does not ship internationally excluding Puerto Rico
Even if I find an U.S. shop which would ship to Germany I'll have Problems with the delivery time, with the Warranty (which in most cases is not valid in Europe) etc. So I think the whole adventure it's not worth and I would rather pay like 40% more and buy it from here.
The point is, I wanted to buy the same memory as in the review and not some older Model.
That's why I asked if the difference in the part number 21G against 22G means different model or not.
You got the picture now?

Thanks!
That was the information that I've apparently missed. :?
I know it's the better deal, but I don't think I'll need more than 1 GB. At least for now...
I'll just put it on 1000 Mhz

Does anyone know if the Patroit ram works on the p5b-e board

And when you say the rebate expires on the 28, do you mean we have to purchase it before the 28 or do you mean we have to send it in before the 28.

thx in advance 😛 😛

Nice review! I was hoping for some more CAS4 overclocking, but otherwise great review and I've been waiting for this review for a while!

I really wish they included these SUPER TALENT sticks

4-4-3-8?!? Madness! Have not seen timings that low in DDR2-800 in ages...

Did anyone see this amazing deal?

~Ibrahim~

The SuperTalent apparently switched away from D9, as someone mentioned above. (I was under the same impression you are)

The 2nd link is 5-6-6-15

$199 isn't bad though 😀

Right, but it isn't confirmed, yet...Maybe that is why they lowered the price $100, lol!

I know it has lax timings, but DDR2-1100 for $194?? I'm almost 100% sure, though, that it is just DDR2-800 CAS4 overclocked. Might even be DDR2-800 CAS5.

Confirmed? No, but I don't want to run the risk of having to return them pay restocking fee then order a different set of RAM. That's my only concern.

Site note:

Just ordered my E4300 and G.SK F2-8000PHU2-2GBZX. Should be a good build.

Just curious... what exactly is the point of these 'performance' ddr2 kits that perform worse than my old ddr 500? Seriously, my Patriot DDR500 2gb kit @ 3-4-4-8 1T gets 6450mb/s in sandra memory test, I don't see why they even switched to ddr2, should have just went straight to ddr3.

DFI RD600, one of 2 people so far on Toms with it :)

I'm sure there are more but 3lf and I are the main men

Haha, great choice. I miss DFI, that motherboard is their only decent-to-great LGA 775 motherboard. No P965, nothing..<<<<-Off Topic, but wth.

I'm very excited to (finally) see DDR2 prices come down. A few weeks ago, DDR2-800 at 2GB could NOT be found at any latency below $200, but now we have CAS5 as low as $155 (OCZ S.O.E.) and CAS4 as low as $174 (OCZ S.O.E. Urban Edition)...

AMD X2's have come down in price: I thought I'd never see the day to see a dual-core dip below $110, but the X2 3800+ has accomplished this amazing feat.

All these lower prices just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Remember the actual bandwidth on that review is lower than in most other reviews because of the 2:1 DRAM:CPU multiplier, used to test bus speeds beyond what the CPU was capable of even at its lowest multiplier.

So say you get "only" 6400 in Sandra at a 1:1 ratio, well you still need DDR2-800 capable memory (or better) to run 400MHz bus (or higher).

Can you guess which memory I just bought?

Superfly...

Just giving you a heads up about g.skill...

I have DDR-500 gskill gig sticks in my other rig. For me to run them @ 250 mhz, I had to install a fan above the memory to get them to run stable. They got wicked hot! It was installed in a GA K8NXP-SLI mobo, which has the dual channel sticks very close to each other.

Thanks again for the G965 chipset tip. When I get my Patriots on Wednesday, I'll see how high I can get my FSB on the AB9 Pro...... nice when I know the memory can go to 600 mhz 8)
