Overclocking a 2700k

Ok, so im wondering how much i could overclock my 2700k...
my build:
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68
i7 2700k
1050W corsair psu
h100 cooling system
16 (4x4) vengeance 1600
6970 msi lightning, (might be adding another....)
120 gb ssd
1tb sata 7200 drive
df-85 case (the case has 7 fans, ill probably attach the h100 to the 2 back fans on the case and push pull it..

Psu wise just say i have 2 6970's as i will likely be getting another....

So what could i overclock it to, 4.5, 4.8, 5.0?!?! Or would i need a better psu to get that high?

It will depend on the overall system and the efficiency of your fan/heatsink. I would say probably 4.3-4.5 maybe a little higher.

It will depend on how good your CPU is. H100 is very good on SB CPUs. It can handle 1.4v with safe temps. Most of 2500k/2500k and 2700k 1.4v work at 4.5 - 4.8 Ghz, really good samples even more. Tested more than 20 SB CPUs and i own h100..

1050w is overkill, good 800w is optimal for that setup. 3 x cf is waste of many but 1050 will hold wtih no problems even very overclocked..

Mine is 1.42v for 5ghz in 2700k. 4.8ghz i mange to get 1.34vcore. I could do better this just starting, however prime 95 run too hot for 5ghz, everyday program won't get hot.

So do you think i could get it to 5 on a h100? im going to have perfect airflow, and remember that my mobo has a bunch of heatsinks around the cpu as well... I think i might get a 1200 corsair instead of a 1050 as well...

I wouldn't get any of those water kits. IMOif you want to do water cooling save up and do a custom water loop.

Well that's just the res and pump. You need the water blocks tubing and rads.

I use the Coolermaster V8 on 2700k, at 4.6ghz I get 24 degree idle temp and under load 50-55, I looked into water coolers but this seems to do the job nicely. Working on getting 4.8 - 5 but my chip is fairly new and I don't wanna fry it yet!

4.3 is easy on a 2600k at stock volts any thing higher usually has a bit of a bump in volts to achieve but 2700ks would be 2600ks binned as golden chips i reckon from now on so who knows

I have a similar setup, except I have the IV Extreme p67, 240gb ssd, ax1200 PSU and 2 5870's. I use the same ram as you do and the h100 (although with Noctua fans) set at minimum speed and the fans limited to a max of 1000rpm.
I can run the system at 4.8ghz easily with max temps of 65C running Prime95 @ 1.35v. I was able to run it at 5.1ghz but temps were hitting 82C

Anyway, to answer your question - your PSU is fine. I simply had to up the voltage and core speed in order to get to 4.8 - anything over that would require more work in the settings.
