Hello,

i would like to know how much can i over clock the core i7 920 with the Default Fan that comes with the Cpu, how much can i boost it without casing overheat to the cpu or anything els.

how to overclock:

1.) Change the memory mhz to the lowest posible ratio.

2.) Change the "QPI link speed" to the lowest possible setting

3.) Change the uncore multiplier to the lowest setting

4.) Start increasing your reference clock in 10mhz increments AKA base clock (as it shows in my motherboard)

5.) Increase the voltage.

6.) Continue increasing the voltage, with the baseclock.

I also read that i have to keep their volts below these.

Cpu: 1.25v

Ram: 1.65v

Uncore: 1.45v

if there is anything wrong or not 100% correct let me know before i start the overclocking progress, so how much can i overclock my core i7 920 with the Default fan that comes with cpu.

thanks in advance.

I'll add into nonxcarbonx post, keep it under 85C core temp,

Also, you can get up to 3.2GHZ on that stock cooler, higher is possible, monitor the core temps at load, use prime95 small FFTS to stress it.

post some results.

with stock cooler you should not go beyond 1.375 because the cooler cant handle the heat. but if you get a better cooler you can get 3.8ghz - 4.0ghz no problem.

vote me best answer :D

lol i'll vote you if everything goes stable : )

ok so

1.375 Vcore (which is the Cpu volts)

1.65V: Ram

1.45V: Uncore

so i can hit 3.2 without casing it to over heat, ok thanks for the info guys.

and i see people disabling alot of stuff in the bios, for power saving and stuff, can you guys tell me what do i have to disable on a X58 Motherboard to make the overclocking stable, or what to enable if there is somethings that i should enable.
