I am computer savvy , I have searched for a solution for very long and I just cant fine one. I have an i7 2600(NON K ). I have overclocked it to 4.2 Ghz via multiplier in the BIOS. Regardless , every singe Cpu stressing/benchmarking/checking etc program I use supports that I am actaully running at 3.9 GHz. Even in the BIOS, while the clock is set to x42 , on the MIT the default clock is shown to be 3.4 GHZ and the turbo clock to 3.9 GHz. Thing is, I have deactivated Turbo clock .

Obvs this whole 3.9 GHZ thing has something to do with the turbo clock , but I cant get what and why. Any help?

If the chip isn't a K series it has a locked multiplier meaning no matter what you put into bios it can't change the multiplier. In other words its almost impossible to OC. I've heard and read that it can be done changing the nb or sb frequency but it can be risky, here is a thread related to OCing non k chip.

I am pretty sure you can OC the 2600 to 4.2 Ghz without it being a K model.
Search around, and look for answers from Intel not forums, you will probably find a post or smth.
