Overclocking E5500 with ECS g41t-m7

Hi, i just recently bought this package deal and set everything up, but im having some problems trying to overclock. When i go into BIOS and try to change the cpu frequency, it shows that option as being greyed out. My question is does this mean i cannot overclock with this motherboard? CPU? or do i have any alternatives to overclocking?

ECS motherboards are generally poor overclockers because the BIOS is locked for most adjustments.

You might try setting the FSB freq to one of the standard FSB settings (266 or 333 MHz) the adjusting the internal multiplier downward ntil your system is stable.

The multiplier on BIOS is locked unless by internal you mean elsewhere?

You will not be able to increase the multiplier, but you should be able to decrease it.

Here's what I mean:
E5500 is 2.8 GHz (200 MHz X 14). You probably do not have any way to increase the core voltage on the motherboard, so you need to find the highest speed that the CPU will run reliably. So, if you can, select the 266 MHz FSB freq. 266x14= 3.7+ GHz.

It probably won't run without the voltage increase that you cannot do. Drop the multiplier to X13 (3.45 GHz). It might run at that speed. If not, decrease the multiplier again (a little less than 3.2 GHz). That should run.

same problem here. i have the ECS G41T-M6. but i cannot adjust the frequency. my bios has frequency/volatage control. but the only adjustable options are:
Auto Detect DIMM/PCI CIK
Spread Spectrum

I have an older ECS board (GF7100PVT-M3). Got it at Frye's. Paid $200 and they threw in a free Q6600. Or maybe I have that backwards.

I put my old 2.4 GHz E6600 in it. I was able to select the 333MHz FSB freq, giving me 3.0 GHz. That's about the limit of the board's overclocking capability.

That is, unfortunately, what you get when you use ECS motherboards.
