I have overclocked the Q6600 by raising the FSB to 333MHz and somehow managing to lock the RAM to 333 MHz, however although I have PC2-6400 at CAS4 my motherboard hangs when I try to select the 4/4/4/12 setting even though I raise the voltage to 2.1V as per SPD.

Is there any good guide out there to help me understand how to overclock the GA-EP45-DS3?

Thanks

I've just had a system built and the Gigabyte motherboard has a function "Easy Tune" that supposedly help overclock or raise the performance level...

My board is the p45-ds3l and your's Im sure should have that function as well...

I'm looking at overclocking mine just a little and not too much...would using this function be the best way ?

I'm not experienced enough to start tinkering with bus speeds and memeory speeds etc and figure that tweaking programme would do that for you anyway...

Correct me if I'm wrong please if someone knows the ins and outs of this.

i just got mine runnin stable on the 1600 fsb with my 800 ram overclocked to like 040 or somethin like that when i come home from work tomarow i will take some pics with my sisters camera it will atleast give u something to go off of by the way i have the pentium d e2180 so there will be some diffrences...hope i can help

Id go for the gigabyte board and get an ati card, cause ati in my opinion have won this round vs nvidia. bang for the buck the 4850 or 4870 wins all.

hahah well just cuz i feel like resurrecting this thread, i will say this:
in the next month i'm gonna get a ep45-ds3 and a e5200 to overclock the sh!t out of. add a msi 9600GT OC (lovely cooler) to the mix and its one hell of a budget build!

...still do want my $2000 (aus) evga 750i FTW+ two 9800GT's build at some point though lol
