I’m hoping I can get this working
I’m currently waiting for new build and got this older pc from someone when I gave them my ddr3 a10 to upgrade to ddr4
And they wanted stuff copied over the computer was dirty and not running right but I managed to fix it and now it’s running and or tho it’s probably like 25 years old it runs pretty good and I was thinking of keeping it for future clusters computer

I kinda love older computers so I still have my 2006 Mac Pro because I have a feeling it’s getting some heavy mods in future
Because of those ram boards that separate from board soon it will regain wrath

I have a q6600 but have set it at stock. Was 3.2GHz. Overclocking such an old system is a risk but if you want to do it then there are a number of ways to overclock the q6600.

Don't use the 1.625 volts vcore in the video.

Overclocking Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600

Safe voltages q6600

Tape mod last resort and risky.

Should not matter if you have got the idea about how to overclock the q6600.

AI Tuning [Auto]
Allows selection of CPU overclocking options to achieve desired CPU internal frequency. Selct either one of the preset overclocking configuration options:
Manual Allows you to individually set overclocking parameters.
Auto Loads the optimal settings for the system.
Standard Loads the standard settings for the system.
AI Overclock Loads overclocking profiles with optimal parameters for stability when overclocking.
AI N.O.S. The ASUS Non-delay Overclocking System feature intelligently determines the system load and automatically boosts the performance for the most demanding tasks.

Overclock Options [Disabled]
Allows you to set the overclocking options.
Configuration options: [Disabled] [Overclock 5%] [Overclock 10%] [Overclock 15%] [Overclock 20%] [FSB 960/800] [FSB 1280/800] [FSB 1000/667] [FSB 1333/667] [FSB 1200/800]

Unlinked looks like the easier option. Bus speed x cpu multiplier = Processor clock speed

Bus speed x cpu multiplier = Processor clock speed

It turns out to save some money I whent with x299 lowest cpu a i5 most because i7 whent up 200$ and so did the i5 on amazon the retailer being intel literally say recommended price is $250 as it was on amazon
Up to a few weeks ago I was going to pass on i5 and go i7 for around $500 but with out warning after Boxing Day the chip jumped to $750 as for the i5 it was Sam price as before so I held back I bit longer now i5 is $350 on Amazon and $450 at best buy it’s not even worth that so I hade to ebay it in panic so I’m waiting on it delivery but as it turns out after googling it for a bit longer I can across info saying it will only use 2 of my ram channels but can do like 32 gb that doesn’t make sense so what’s true what’s the deal help me out

Also can anyone help is there a solution for installing yellow dog Linux on ps3 because I was thinking of cluster computing when all is done and supposedly windows the has the ability to cluster with Linux at least that’s what I believe cause windows offers the software on more than just windows but also Linux so I guess it could work right

This image makes it easier to see what each cpu can do. i5-7640x core and thread count is 4/4 and memory support is two channels. The maximum memory supported by the cpu is 64 GB. Intel® Core™ i5-7640X X-series Processor

I can't help you with the ps3, I have never owned one and have little knowledge about one.

I only barrowd the 1650 I actually use a 1050 and I get a really good benchmark on 3DMark
