I'm new to overclocking and i've overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3.0 on air with Zalman CNPS9500A LED, corsair XMS2 1*4GB DHX at 800MHZ but under clocked it to 666 with ratio 1:1:0 with the RamV at 2.0V and the CPU V at 1.85V. I've got a Abit P35 motherboard and a 800 watt PSU with Nvidia 8800GTX, ooo yer i also pushed the PCi express from 100 to 105.

After overclocking the CPU, when my graphic card is not busy it settles at 60-65C when busy it runs very hot at 70-79.
With the CPU, the four cores run from 42- 48 with the hottest core at 48, on load it hitz around 55-60 with the hottest core on 60-62.

Just want to know are these temperatures normal, or is my settings wrong, please help i don't want to kill my baby i love her so much.

There shouldn't be a need to overvoltage your ram. Your cpu voltage should be around 1.3, NOT 1.85. Please use z cpu to check the actual voltage when in windows. Leave the pci express alone. GPU temps around 70-80 at load is perfectly fine.
Around 60 for the cores is also perfectly fine. I would think it was higher with that voltage. Please run prime95 to make sure you're fully loading all cores.

EDIT: And oh, yeah. If you only have one RAM stick, you can't run dual channel. You should have two sticks.

I'm running prime95 at the moment, and my cores are hitting 70-79 with CPU at 100% and Ram on 78%.

My CPU Fan is going mad running at 2637 RPM, you were saying "There shouldn't be a need to overvoltage your ram" so what voltage should i keep it at? at the moment itz at 2.00v default is1.80 and CPU at 1.485V default is 1.300v.

sorry about this every one, i know i'm posting so many questions at once but if there is any 1 out there, that can help please do reply. Right now i'm running speedfan 4.37 and here is the reading for my system, whiles running prime95:

GPU: 62C
system: 40C
CPU:64C
AUX:77C
Cores from 76-80 ( is the CPU temperature the overall temp for the four cores?)

Are these temperatures ok?

you are using to much voltage on your CPU which is dangerously overheating (safe temps are below 70-73º) That's my only concern right now.

lower your voltage to stock... you are burning your cpu. I got 4 q6600 chips to 3ghz on air with one or two notches above stock. a q6600 at 100% load should be at about 45-60 depending on the cooler.
Ram to stock
PCI to stock

Yes, those temperatures are insane. I also had a Zalman CNPS and my temperatures were around 70C on each core with prime95 at 1.4750v. That was at 3.6GHz though.
Are you sure you have the heatsink seated right and that you used the right amount of thermal paste?
Also as others said, that voltage is way to high for 3.0GHz.

yer i have, what i have done now is set all the voltages to default as Slo said and changed the ratio to 1:1:2 to get 789 or 798 on my Ram.

right run with out prime95 running temperatures on cores are 39 - 45C and the CPU sayz 30C is this the overall temperature for the CPU?

i'm going 2 run prime95 at these temperatures, i'll keep u updated.

Dont just give up! Have you tried upping northbridge voltage yet? My Q6600 can do 3.0GHz on stock, yours should be able too, or maybe 1 or 2 notches above it, unless you got horribly unlucky.

use a little (only a little) more voltage on cpu, that should do. But considering your temps, it seems the cooler isn't properly installed, please double check that.

A Q6600 G0 shouldn't reach 65 at 3.0 with your cooler, those are stock cooler temps.

I believe with the Zalman 9500 at full speed and the Q6600 (G0 Stepping) at 3.0 GHz you should be around 55° - 62°
