Hi there,

So I got a r9 380 from msi and I'm curious if I overclock it (Without increasing voltages, because it new and don't wanna ruin it already) will changing the clock speeds etc also damage the card in the long run? or does it just crash and re-try?

And what are the recommended overclock settings for a msi r9 380.

Btw I have a 550W psu

Thanks

Just changing the clock speeds won't damage it as long as the temps are in a normal range (lower than 80C is best). MSI cards seem to OC pretty well, you might be able to hit 1100MHz core and 1600MHz memory on stock voltage though it varies from card to card. At those speeds temps shouldn't be a problem, but it never hurts to monitor them closely anyways. If you do decide to overvolt, don't go above 1.3v and you will be good (keep watching those temps, VRM temps when dealing with overvolting too). You can expect maybe 1200MHz core and 1600MHz memory with a decent voltage increase.
