I'm trying to run a 16GB module of G.Skill Ripjaws 3200Mhz RAM at 3200Mhz instead of the default 2133Mhz. I tried enabling XMP in the BIOS and nothing happened. Overclocking it manuall by setting the tCL to 16, tCRD to 18, tCWR to 18 (because I didn't know what to set this one to), and tRP to 18, and tRAS to 38, as well as DRAM voltage to 1.35V and the speed to 3200Mhz.

This just caused my PC to reboot during startup, so now I'm back where I started. Although the board spec sheet says that only supports 2667 Mhz RAM, there are numerous reports from individuals saying that they were able to achieve 3200 Mhz easily. What am I doing wrong, and what can I do to successfully overclock this RAM?

i have this exact ram and i cant get past stock speeds. I tried manual OC and Ryzen master and it WILL NOT boot unless at 2166. What am I doing wrong?

Check your frequency after it starts. If it fails to boot a couple times thats a protection feature and When it does start, your MOBO has already defaulted to stock settings to enable booting. So its technically NOT working.

Hi guys,
yesterday tried new bios v1.4 - XMP Profile 1 (3000) works unstable, don't talking about 3200.
Reverted back to v1.3 (stable XMP 3000)
Regress ???
It a pity...

It's probably going to take months for them to figure out the memory incompatibility issues. It's been two months and my 3200 Mhz kit still doesn't work at any speeds above 2133 Mhz.

Got B350 Tomahawk with CMK16GX4M2B3200C16, MSi memory support list says that same set only red color can do 3200. So far with 1.4 bios nothing above 2667 works stable, XMP profiles are totally a no go, 2933 started few times with 20,20,20,40, and same with even higher latencies- few times starts up and and sometimes it set back to default. 3200 couldn't start not even once no matter the settings. I guess I need to paint my kit red, kappa.

Btw any idea on this ProcODT? Kept it on auto always as I have no idea what it does and if it would be any help in reaching better ram OC.

ProcODT can help improve your DRAM overclocking, Auto value is what AMD deems is best, and has default value as 53.3 Ohm, dont exceed 80 Ohm, heard of some having good results at 40 Ohm.

If you have 2x Single-Rank modules you can try setting this to Disabled and you might see some performance boost in certain applications.

(For my RAM better is to leave at Auto)

I also set ProcODT to Auto. Could not find this parameter in my Memory spec.

Regarding painting our kits to Red and Blue - I've sent this issue to MSI support, not answer yet.
Please add also your ticket regarding colors.

I've reverted from 1.4 to 1.3 and continue sitting on XMP 3000, it is really stable.
Added Regress-ticket of 1.4 bios to MSI support, no answer yet.

I'm having an issue as well. Exact same Ram kit Newest version of the bios 1.5. I can get upto 2667 CL 14, but cannot get either XMP profiles working, or Memory try it 2933 CL 16 working.

In fact my 3200 is unstable, sometimes PC starts and sometimes is not, 3000 is the same with bios 1.5

2933 was stable with bios v1.3, but after it is not.
3200 could not start at all until v1.5, but in 1.5 it is unstable.
2666 is stable starting from 1.2
and now we are waiting for agesa 1.0.0.6 ...

Good to see you again Winrazor :)
Same conclusion here : 1.5 is the best BIOS so far but still unstable for 3200Mhz, waiting for new BIOS as well !

BIOS 1.5 helped me get my 3200 Mhz rated RAM to 2667, which isn't too bad. I agree that 1.5 is the best one so far, at least for us.

Yes, thank you, waiting for 1.6...

oh gosh, same ram, same motherboard, i cant get anything but ddr 1066
did you think you can find some time to help me?

Have you checked in task manager, what does it shows

Mine shows 2933mhz , find img below
https://goo.gl/87MVL3

if you not getting this number, restat and press del to enter bios and click xmp pro 1, It works

Hi, i did what you suggested, but after 5 failed boot, the system boot up and the ram in task manager is listed as 2 of 4, 1067mhz

So long, the best i got is the "try it!" @2400mhz. it was not showed in the task manager (still reporting 1067mhz) but increased the cpu-z report from 1067 to 1199. anyhow it was unstable

what is your bios version....? did you update bios...???

what is your bios version....? did you update bios...???

hi, my bios version is E7A34AMS.H30, buid date 04/19/17
the MSI Live Update software confirm that is the latest bios version

i think you are trying to run 3200mhz... which is not possible now.... try XMP1 profile in bios and dont change anything else, this is what working in my pc... i get max 2933mhz...

Hi, if i try XMP1 profile in bios and dont change anything else the sistem fails to boot and revert to 2133mhz.

I've obtained 2400mhz with nb voltage 1.15 and dram voltage 1.45 (while they are rated 3200mhz @1.35v)

Yes, the same happens with XMP1 on my PC. (bios 1.5)
XMP2 (3000) also starts unstable, but it was stable with bios 1.3
Now I just set RAM speed to 2666 and all other params to auto, and it works stable. (bios 1,5)
And waiting for bios 1.6 with agesa 1.0.0.6 ...

I think the Ram we using is not same....bcoz I get 2933mhz stable on (bios 1.5) thru XMP1
