P bell hard drive

hi my external hard drive dosent show up on my, my computer. i know it is full and i want to delite all on it and start again but i cant access it, its pluged in and ive changed the cables i pluged it into a printer and it said redding device but after 1 hour nothing changed

A little more specific information would be useful

1) How does it attach to the computer: USB 2.0, USB 3.0, FireWire, ESP?
2) Does it work on another computer?
3) Does the computer detect it in BIOS (if you know how), in the Device Manager, in the Drive Manager?
4) What type of computer and what OS, in case we have to guide you through some test steps.
5) What is a P bell drive? Packard Bell doesn't sell them in the country where I live (U.S.), anyway.

The idea is to figure out what level the problem is at so that we can solve it. Changing cables is a good test, you get the trivial answer out of the way first.
