cool I'll check it out...trying to view now but the page keeps timing out...must be my useless work connection getting bombarded with all the bored office people like myself!
i can get to this page, which has the link to the article your pointing out, but then it's timing out, will try later.

ive been reading some other stuff about the 6xx series
to take advantage of the execute-disable bit technology, do i have to change something in my bios?
anything else i should check to see if i have it enabled or am utilising it?

It was screwing up on me to try this! <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/pentium4-6xx_5.html" target="_new">http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/pentium4-6xx_5.html</A>

still screwed up. It works if you just copy and paste it. try it that way.

😱 If I would have shot you when I had the chance, I would be out by now 😱

very interesting and thorough article.
im pretty happy with my p4 630...i hope to be able to oc it later, thus saving money on spending more for little actual ghz gain (ie:could have bought a 660 etc but paid heaps more).
the fact of adding the extras such as the EM64T extensions, EIST etc makes it the chip the 5xx series should have been....anyway, im very happy with mine and the fact it runs nice and cool is a plus.
