P4C800-E is it a good board??

I'm about to build a new system and thinking of using the P4C800-E and would
like some input on this board. Has there been many problems or is it a good
solid MB?

I built a P4C800 Delux and have had numerous issues with overheating and
random error messages about overclocking and device failure messages. Not
all the time but more often then I would like and always fixes itself after
a reboot?

Yes, good board and not much different from the P4C800 Deluxe.
Of course, overclocking may result in overheating problems but
this is not really a motherboard issue but in using the right
cooling hardware, starting with the Heatsink-Fan combination,
the case, the number of ventilation fans and airflow through
the chassis.

I would recommend it. Mine is about 6 weeks old and it has been very
reliable. It is fast and has exhibited no quirky behavior. It starts
up quickly, runs reliably, and shuts down like it is supposed to. I
am using WinXP SP2. I have not had any overheating issues to date.
The processor runs at roughly 32C when idling and climbs to the low
40's when working hard.

IF you are meaning the P4C800-E Deluxe, I am a noob at building P4's (but
not supporting or using computers) and used it, am running RAID 0 Raptors
and a backup IDE HDD as well as two optical drives -- all off of the Intel
Controller, 3.2 GHz P4 Northwod, Hardcano 12, Audigy 2ZS Platinum, ATI
Radeon x800 Pro and two 512 matched sticks of Corsair XMS 3200 C2 Pro DIMMs
and it has never even burped except when I tried to OC it--but I did not buy
it for OC'ing--I wanted decent speed and stability. It took SP-2 without a
single issue also. I did disable the Promise controller since it was
redundant and unnecessary and would have been slower than the Intel
Controller. I have absolutely no issues with this board. One review that I
read indicated that the BIOS menu system had too many levels and was
confusing--WRONG! Were I to do another computer build and had it to do over
again, I would choose the same motherboard.

I have had my P4C800-E for more than 10 months and it is the quality I
wanted in a motherboard when I originally spec'ed my system. I don't use
raid or the onboard sound, so cannot comment on whether that would change my
opinion. I do though have 2 x SATA dives, 2 x IDE drives, a PCI Digital TV
card, a PCI (M-Audio Revolution 7.1) sound card.
I overclock the system 10% which is a P4 2.8C with 1GB of Kingston Twin Ram
(2 x 512) and it very stable. I run a 9600pro as my video card.

This was my first ASUS board and will not be my last.
