P5B-E Problems, Conroe Build, Please Help

Asus P5B-E
Intel Conroe E6600
Asus 7900GS
OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 PC2-6400
1x80Gig HD with OS (C
1x320Gig HD with Programs and Games (D
1x250gig HD with Pictures, Music etc. (E

Now here's my problem(s).

Everytime my computer is turned off, or restarted, the boot up is hell. Sometimes it'll keep rebooting then go to the screen that gives you the option to start windows in safe mode, normally or use the last known good config. It would only boot up into safe mode until eventually with enough restarts it would boot up properly. Also, I can't install World of Warcraft, it says there's a problem with your system or the drive at D:. I know there is nothing wrong with the harddrives because other games work fine and so yeah. Also sometimes when I boot up my video card drivers will just not start, and it will be just like if I had no gfx drivers.

I've made sure it wasn't the disc drives, and I've reflashed to the latest BIOS. Could someone tell me (really descriptive I'm not that good with drivers) which drivers to download specifically and the best method on uninstalling all drivers and reinstalling them. I am willing to reformat my C: drive.

Sounds like PSU to me mate.

You've got an Antec SmartPower [not TruePower] (a SeaSonic, but cheap one) don't you ?
[Just a hunch].



With PSUs - You only need to ask yourself one question:

Are they on both the nVidia SLI Certified, http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html#certified_powersupplies , and

ATI/AMD Certified, http://ati.amd.com/technology/crossfire/buildyourown2.html , PSUs lists ?

Stick to the certified lists above, and you'll make the perfect choice, first time, every time. If not go one level (+41.43%) higher wattage than you think you need, it'll last you through more upgrades and reduce chances of problems when the PSU is 3+ years old.

Nope the PSU is not the problem. I've narrowed it down to either the CPU, Mobo, or RAM. I'm almost positive it's the motherboard, I think it might just be dead.

Don't dismiss TabrisDarkPeace's comment. It can be the problem of a perfectly good Antec SmartPower PSU not starting an Asus P5B or P5W board properly. This has been documented many times. So IS it an Antec?? A couple of other specific supplies also can do this.

Try pressing and holding the keyboard "insert" key (bottom-right) during POST to temporarily clear bios settings.

Otherwise you might try disabling AHCI, if enabled, and underclocking, just to see what happens.
