P5q-em Asus mobo start up problem.

Hi all, I've a p5q-em Asus motherboard which refuses to reach post if left off for a few hours. Only if I try 4 or so tries will it eventually kick in and I can use my os as normal.
The power comes on and I can hear the disc spinning up but no boot. I've a 750w CPU and I've tried stripping it of all add ons, but no joy. I've also just updated the bios. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

when it boot does it show current date and time you might need to get a new bios battery if not .

Hi there, yes, dates ok, I recently changed the battery and bios is completely grand. Thanks for your suggestion though.

could you try to use another cable from board to disc that must be a ide one do the same with power cable from psu .

Mmm, ok. Something I haven't tried. I've tried booting with the hard discs disconnected and it's made no difference but I'll give both a go. Thanks a million for the suggestions.
