[SOLVED] Packet loss with ethernet to router but not directly to modem

I've been playing fornite with no issues until recently. All of a sudden I'm getting upload packet loss in game and significant lagging. I'm plugged in to my router when this happens. All trouble shooting looks good on my end. speed test shows 300+ download and 20 upload. Ping tests all look good. The only thing that fixes the problem is plugging my ethernet directly into the modem. Do I just need a new router? I'm using the garbage one that spectrum provides. I wouldn't think the router is the issue since i'm wired to it...but I don't really know much about networking. Thanks

Try a better router --- just because you are using ethernet doesn't mean it can't be the router.
