@radomizer - true, people use computers for work, but most of that work is done by employer supplied PCs, which tend to be Windows client-side. Moreover, PCs have been good enough for most work for years, so refresh cycles in the business are, in my opinion, going to slow down. I'm still rocking an AMD x2 4600+ on my work PC and it is still far more then capable of handling intensive database work. So I see most new PC sales being driven by those that do actually need a new PC with more horsepower - and that need for horsepower largely coming from multimedia applications (games included). Since the article is talking about new PC sales, I'd say that's a fair argument.
What throws a wrench in said argument is of course netbook/laptop sales, but that's more of a form factor need/want rather then a functionality need/want.
