Not that I am against technology advancement, but for SSD's it seems that every time the prices start to slide just a bit, they relase a new feature that throws the pricing back up again. AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Perhaps, but the idea is that the previous generations of the product do drop in price. Buy one of these instead of the the cutting edge version. I bought a "low cost" (by SSD standards) Kingston SSD and my level load times are so short that I never have time to read the helpful tips that display. Not to mention a completely silent drive.

The 2nd Gen Intel X25-M 160GB is around $450, on the egg.

Sequential Access - Write up to 100MB/s is significantly lower than the 275MB/s claimed by the Patriot.

As long as I have enough room to put my OS and a few games Speed > Size IMO.

It's fast and considering i've seen people spend 300 bucks on WD's raptor hdds when they were new i'd actually say in terms of getting your moneys worth this is a better deal.

Well if you're not using a SSD to store movies and other large bits of data it's "reasonable" most people only need 30-60 gigs to fit every program on their computer, although it's still a bit too small for say the photoshopper or video editor unless you set it up just right to only take up space for your current project.

Correct me if I am wrong...The Intel isn't nearly as fast as this thing.

I've been waiting a long time...

I'd wait for a real in depth review on it first given Patriots prior history with SSD's not be too favorable, but you should really do that regardless of brand to avoid getting hosed in general when possible.

Hopefully this new lineup will be a redeeming one for Patriot it's unfortunate for them that their Torque series seemed to be rather unfavorable as far as the average consensus was concerned.
