My 2 year old ze5000 hard drive failed. Since it is an IBM Travelstar HD,
does anyone know if it carries a longer warranty? Would IBM replace the
drive?

Probably only the HP warranty would apply. You can try IBM's warranty support
at www.ibm.com , using the drive model and serial number, but I'm doubtful.
Most of the drive manufacturers clamped down on warranty support of drives sold
on an OEM basis to brand name manufacturers. If IBM honors the warranty and the
warranty still has time remaining, IBM might well replace the drive... Ben Myers

This is exactly right. Since HP bought the parts (HD) from IBM, IBM will
not honor any warranty. HP will only honor their original warranty of all
the parts.
